The United Kingdom will not #Brexit from the European Union
Have you noticed the subtle adjustment in #Brexit messaging in all aspects of the media that surrounds us. I’m confident that I’m not the only one. There have been the very clear indications of significant resignations and the more intangible change of tone in the media and in the way Europe and our union with Europe is messaged.
Yes, the United Kingdom had a majority vote in favour if exiting from the European Union and yes the intention has been made clear, however actual action has not been taken and I’m predicting will not take place, certainly not to the degree that #Brexiters believe or the principles of the #Brexit campaign indicated.
The #Remain campaign was accused of #ProjectFear however this was and remains more a reality than many expected or dreaded.
Even the first vote declarations, including Sunderland introduced significant and very real negative impacts on the economic stability of the UK.
The perplexed reaction of the UK began almost immediately as half the nation struggled to understand the results.
I believe that the results were highlighting decades of negative press about Europe and our relationship with the EU. I have certainly experienced this negativity throughout my life and understand that it is easy to wallow in negativity and that it is self perpetuating.
As the results came in I questioned if this was the result of that simple, underlying negativity and perhaps the public perception, knowledge and understanding would have been different and more considerate if we have received greater clarity on the positive outcomes of the union, a message many have claimed that the #Remain campaign was not proficient at.
It was early in the voting that #Leave votes continued to flood in that #Remainers started to feel physically sick at the fear and shock of what was happening. I felt this too, throughout the first week the sorrow or what the British people were doing to there own nation was overwhelming, note that I can’t use we because this is not my choice.
It was also early in the voting that #Remainers started realising and warning others as to the effect a #Leave vote would have on the overall United Kingdom.
Discussions of London independence #Londependence turned to Scottish independence, the unification of Ireland, Gibralta becoming part of Spain and the Falklands becoming part of Argentina.
Our national legacy was crumbling around us and #Remain voters were powerless but to call out against the ridiculous self destruction.
During the campaign I questioned the significance of the date 26th June 2016. I’m a great believer in the relationship between fate, coincidence, tangent meaning and the importance of symbolism and numbers.
After the result the most poignant suggestion was that this date represented the date of an apocalypse for the economic and perhaps peace of the world.
Was this date also numerically symbolic of specifically mans apocalypse. The referendum was the commitment of a man and men were the significant promoters and leaders of both campaigns. Was this to be mans apocalypse from which only women could repair the damage done or as a catalyst to the much needed improvement in the influence of women in our world.
What if the date was selected for a more simple reason.
The weather could not have been predicted to such accuracy with such a long forecast, however without the heavy rain would there have been another reason for significant travel disruption in what was expected to be the strongest #Remain vote area. The vote arrangements would certainly have known that Glastonbury would be taking place with up to over 100,000 people away from the voting mechanism.
They would also have been able to predict that a significant number of voters would be travelling in Europe as England, Wales and Northern Ireland participated in the #Euros2016
On Newsnight an audience member spoke of the lack of communication regarding proxy voting amongst expats.
It was Glastonbury which provided one of the most intersting insights into the choice of date. Messages can always be heard in music that you can associate with your situation and as well as the event timing they would also have known that Muse would be playing the night of the day of the result and hat Muse would play one of the greatest and most popular hits which includes the lyrics,
A change in messaging started to trickle into public view as soon as the result indicated a leave swing.
Then as the polls closed and the #Leave result was feared we received the early triggers of economic instability and the so called #ProjectFear started to become a reality.
It has continued to fall against all currencies and at two weeks later:
At the initial fall I questioned and predicted:
The lack of clarity and understanding also suddenly became very apparent.
The developing fear of the reality became more and more apparent.
Fear leads to hatred and we witnessed a rapidly decline into concern for the impact this would have on people.
This situation only became worse and remains a significant concern as we continue to seek clarity on this whilst many suffer racial hatred.
We saught solace in the strength of wisdom from those well respected from leading our nation through the most challenging events of modern history.
With great sorrow the thought of British being forced to flee the country that Britain could become, became a distinct consideration.
Although a very serious message it was also reassuring that at the very least our British sense of humour remained intact.
The speed of the spread of the #Leave disease shocked those who voted for it like decision makers ill-prepared for the decision they made.
A very awkward understanding was how those areas in the United Kingdom who had received the most economic support from the #EU where those who voted most significantly in favour of leaving.
A story I found most moving was that of Ebbw Vale in Wales.
The #Remain voters needed to mount greater and great opposition, surely we couldn’t just be passengers in this shocking undermining of the value of our economic and moral standing, especially a 48%+ passenger.
The analysis of the results first found a very distinct and shocking truth.
The significant number of voters who chose #Remain and the regional grouping created a rapid developing call for independence from the decision to recognise #Remain majorities in locations such as #Scotland #London and #Brighton.
This call was a cry of concern for the future of the United Kingdom and a clear warning signal that leaving the #EU would most likely lead to at least the independence of #Scotland. Within several hours of my initial question mark on the future of the #UK we were introduced to a new potential.
What ensued was possibly:
As the news started to label #Brexit as a divorce I asked the following question, which I believe remains a distinct possibility.
One of the worst developments of the reaction to the vote was the rapidly developing feeling of endorsement to be racially abusive. One aspect of this was that many divorce case become bitter and the relationship between #UK and #EU was already suffering a negative fall out:
I was very concerned by the sad news of how a vote was leading to persecution. I thought we had moved on from this behaviour. Not only was the abusive behaviour worsening, the opportunity was created for so much more in the future.
That early feeling of sickness was only deepening and as the shock abated there were expressions of the mass of sadness.
The analysis of the reason why so many voted to #Leave uncovered a very disturbing pattern of concerning decision making and serious concerns about how well the population had been informed and how well the two sides had debated.
Both sides of the debate had very serious questions to answer about how they had presented and communicated the content and subject matter.
Prior to the vote I had previously questioned the marketing of the #RemaIN campaign and why the focus had not been #BritaIN
The social and economic scale of what had just happened was only just being realised.
It even manifested in sport.
Not only was the vote sacrificing the economy and social etiquette it was also going to cost our influence on the larger social and economic stage.
The scale of the sickness led to despair and this created the opportunity and the requirement to fight back, to fight for the #UK and all that we had achieved in developing our nation into one with which the world could find inspiration and in which we could be proud. A rebellion was born:
This was possibly the beginning of the end for the #EU the #Brexit vote set a standard for this the recur across #Europe
The impact of what had just happened was going to only grow in significance, particularly when the #Leave campaign was represented by devisive figures, some of whom where our divided nations representation to the world, some of whom were not elected by vote.
The argument was turning to the requirement to broker new deals from diplomatic relations we had not needed to work for 40 years and it started with:
The build of voter remorse and #Brexit impact realisation was influencing the populative mood:
As the petition for a second referendum waned, the call for something to be done to provide a second choice.
What was particularly interesting was what happened within a short timeframe of the outcome of the EU referendum.
I believe this was a particularly interesting part of his resignation speech:
Let’s recap “my aim in being in politics was to get Britain out of the European Union...I couldn’t possibly achieve more than we managed to get in that referendum.” Hold on, that was not getting Britain out of the #EU, it was a vote, a public expression of opinion, nothing more.
The we had this;
I believe his exit was too simple and unchallenged. The blame leveled on a lame accusation from an unelectable pretender.
When you feel suspicious, something is usually wrong.
Did all this happen because these individuals chose to play a game that they could note finish and which involved trillions of pounds / dollars. Would the 1% really allow that financial fail to take place or would they take back control of the pace and force those involved to leave the campaign that they championed. It is interesting that all the lead players of any note exited the result, would you not naturally want to lead the winning side that you fostered and fathered.
Just when I thought I’d seen and heard it all, I saw this interview;
This was the day prior to Theresa May being confirmed as the next Prime Minister. I would expect that Arron Banks understand UKIP and it’s inner workings and he would understand that what UKIP had envisioned as #Brexit was be seriously undermined seriously.
Theresa May’s first speech as Prime Minister was particularly interesting;
The Spectator shared this interesting perspective:
Is this all part of a reeducation process on a national scale;
The conversation has tangibly shifted to a consistent message of why we should remain in the EU and that this is more an opportunity of positive renegotiation that simply quitting.
There is a greater force at work behind this movement, it does not happen by coincidence or on it own.
#Brexit as you think it might be is not #Brexit as it is becoming or will be.
