Stygian Eye Devlog: June 2026
Hello, hello!
I didn't get to get this up yesterday because I had to have a small medical thing attended to, and that ate up most of my afternoon once I got off of work.
Here is what I have so far.
TLDR: Sac progress is progressing. Project Den line has been established.
Sacrarium Contego
I have been slowly chunking away at Contego's second challenge. Part of the problem is figuring out where to insert flirtation lines and making sure I'm tracking memory flags at the same time. One thing I've done to make life easier is made the threshold way bigger this time around, so I'm not having to micromanage each response like I did with Pario.
I'm nearing the end of Challenge 2 Chapter 7. After that, I just have to actually bulk up Chapter 8 & 9, and then do the Tasks before writing up the last Chapter of Challenge 2. Once I do this, I believe I might release a version on itch (password protected) as a form of beta of sorts. It'll be mostly open since I'll put the password on the blog here, but I don't have the game accessible unless you've got the password. Note that this version of the game may not have illustrations/sprites/etc. It would mostly be done to reduce the amount of system related bugs.
As I have a holiday this Friday, I plan on making this weekend "WRITE WRITE WRITE" Weekend. Fingers crossed I knock out a good chunk of Contego. I have the energy at least.
Sacrarium Resisco
As I anticipated, I've already reduced Amare's chapter length from 7 to 4 with the finale. Initially I was going to do a 7 Sins, 7 Virtues angle, but just writing through 1_1 has been nightmarish. I need to further refine the personality system's interaction with the overarching narrative. I have a current idea I'm going to test in the outline to see if that flows well. I think it will, but I want to double check.
I have gotten all of the BGs for Resisco cobbled together through photobashing and fotosketcher. So that's resolved at least.
Project Den
Now that I know which version of the story I'm tackling I'll be able to start properly getting things fleshed out. Remember that this is something I'll be working on during downtime while I'm in cubicle hell, so don't expect too many updates for a while. When I'm back at home, I'm usually working on Sac.
Still, I do look forward to these characters since two of them are actually some of my oldest characters in terms of how long versions of them have been with me. They're actually a bit older than Amare in that regard, so I'm happy.
Now to do a lot of research that might put me on a watchlist.
