Expand post for my reflections on this project!
why did i make the word reflections colorful? i have no idea
This is my first project done on Nomad Sculpt and also first digital sculpting project. Prior to this I worked with Super Sculpey and epoxy putties like Greenstuff/Kneadatite. My goal was to replicate the art of the rat strawberry shortcake as closely as reasonable for a fun project. I found my reference in the Dead Plate artbook here.
Some part of the project were hard because the stylized art meant some perspective needed readjusting because it wouldn't make sense in 3D, and I needed to add an ear because it was not visible where it should be in the official art (wait... did Vincent eat it too??!)
Top-down view of my rat sculpt. I could not replicate the positions of the strawberries as shown in the artbook because I wanted them to be evenly spaced from each other in 3D space.
I will need to tinker with the way I render the line art more because right now it's not perfect when objects intersect each other. At the angle I used in the gif it was mostly hidden but in this top-down view you can really see how the line art separates from some parts, like the first two strawberries or the rat's arm.
When I have time, I will be 3D printing this and painting it as a miniature. Originally I started sculpting this to feed my hyperfixation and to give myself something other than Warhammer to paint, but I wanted to try cel-shading a 3D sculpture as well so we ended up here!
Also, is it weird to anyone else that Rody just came back to work the next morning after Vincent literally fed him a raw, disembowelled rat? I'd have called the cops or at least not shown up if my boss did that (even if he was very attractive (on god if you put me and vince in the same room we'll see who the cannibal is (i'll sink my teeth into his pale twinky shins and shake him by the leg like a feral dog))).
