How do we deal with project meetings that have to be reschedules? #KMb #AutistiQueers #communityColab #ProjectRefelection

While it would be great if everyone working together could always make set meeting times, that just doesn’t happen. Personally, I don’t really think about the need to update folks on a missed meeting or about rescheduling when I am planning for a project. This ends up meaning that the timeline and the workload are never quite on target. I’m also not sure about how to address rescheduled meetings…

The Previous weeks I was unable to do much work other than do some research into Terry Pratchett and idea development as I needed to work on my portfolio for interviews into other Universities. Including an interview for Kingston University for the Illustration and Animation course, and an online portfolio for Brighton.

Week of the 22nd of January

I like the quick sketches I did at the start which were inspired by the Great A’tuin, which was created by the author Terry Pratchett. I was also interested in the way the Great A’Tuin would have moved throughout the Universe. Would it swim like it was in the ocean? So, I looked at some sea animals and how they moved within the water.

- Do I create a creature for space, or do I use a creature that already exists?

- Project to do with space, but how do I relate? Should I follow Terry Pratchetts’ example, as exploration of the sea and some of its creatures was inspired by the Great A’tuin as part of it is a giant turtle. 

- Who is my target audience? It should be for teenagers and young adults.

- Need more research - who? Artists whom have explored more fantastical aspects of the world, or whom creates an entirely new world. Find an artist who plays with the different sizes of objects and changes them. Whale/Marine Life?

- What size should it be? If it is for a gallery, would it be a massive piece, or several small ones?

Week of the 29th of January

Project Reflection

During my brainstorming session I decided on a couple of topics for our final project. One topic would entail my further exploration of dynamics within the trans and non-binary community and how the community uses technology and social media to spread their stories, take part in activism, and connect with each other and the wider world. The empathy games we played, specifically Dys4ia, and the article written by the creator come to mind.  I remember that my own reflection touched on some specific points about true empathy, trans culture, and the thought behind the technology.  Considering the fact that so many activists do use game as a way to convey their messages, I thought it might be prudent to also explore some reasons why they might choose that method of communication with their audiences.  A similar topic in considering trans activism and lives in connection with the digital would be considering feminism and feminist activists who also use the digital and various forms of media as a place from which to share their views and opinions.  

However, I also considered researching abuse survivors and their use of the digital.  How they use technology to find a sense of community and connect with each other.  I want to speculate on whether the digital gives survivors a sense of support and the feeling that they are not alone in their struggles.  These emotions and motivations might be key factors as to why trans or feminist individuals use an online media presence; not merely to be heard or to extend their presences beyond themselves, but to share experiences and use networks of support that might not be physically available.  The boundaries of the digital allow networking that might otherwise not be possible.  My research might include what spaces survivors use, how they use them, and, if their use is different than that of others, why and to what purpose? The Happenings and interactive art come to mind because they wanted to deliver a familiar product through an altered medium for their own purposes (in regards to how they actually produce art and why they produce it in these manners).

Finally it is the end of the semester. First, I want to thank Jesus Christ because of Him I am able to finish this semester smoothly. I also want to thank my beloved lecture Miss Nita for helping me throughout the semester with my CLEO's Handouts Title sequence project. I want to thank Saarah as well because without her GDD 6 will be the most quiet class :)

In the beginning of the project I did not have any difficulties in choosing the theme and sketching. I know that I want to go with surrealism, and soon I found out that Egyptian has their own typeface known as Hieroglyphs and they used a lot of juxtapositions. Thanks to Katy Perry - Dark Horse for that! I also enjoyed doing my Composition Test to know about Ae better.

In the middle of semester I found out that making a Visual FX is a fun thing to do. I watched some tutorials and just following it step by step while working on the project. The Animatic was fun too because I saw that I am going to the right track (all the elements were there). Though it is still lacking in here and there, especially making the 3D pyramid. I got help from Miss Nita and my housemate that time.

Last assignment is the hardest thing to finish because I need to move the camera and finishing all of the lacking things on my Test Project. Everyday is a day to find a mistake and enhance something to make the project looks better and best. Though the CLEO's Handouts was hard, the behind the scene and the composition breakdown add some more fun to the final assignment.
