Over the past few weeks, the Malaysian community has been struck by a number of news items of school violence, bullying and safety. The impact of the harmful narratives surrounding these incidents have resulted in the disability community feeling distressed and unsafe.
In response to this, Project Lily initiated and created First Light, a small community-led support space to help people process the related news. It is a Psychological First Aid (PFA) service offering a safe and inclusive space to talk, reflect and get support when everything feels too heavy. It is not a therapy service, but a first-line response to signpost people to relevant resources.
