How about Cocktails for Dessert for the wip thing? Tell us some more.
You found one of the two non-Star Wars writings on this list! This is a co-writing fic/story/whatever you want to call it, set in a homebrew urban fantasy world full of vampires, witches, nymphs, werewolves, etc. All sorts of madness occurs. This is where Elena, a fire elemenal, meets her future romantic interest Mikhail--who's a weresnake (yes, snake, it's a weird world).
A tall glass of blue alcohol that could have been poured right from the neon lights decorating the walls found its way in front of Elena on the bar, and she thanked the bartender with a smile before taking it up and turning in her stool so she was facing the dance floor instead, drink in hand. The current song was at it's crescendo, lyrics faded away to a beat that made the lights pulse and people move faster and faster. Elena plucked the cherry from the top of her drink and popped it into her mouth as she watched for a little while. The atmosphere was warm and wild and alive--everything she loved so much about humans.
They were somehow both tamer and wilder than underfolk were at times. What Du'an had said back at the market was unfortunately true; there was a level of control so many magical people had to maintain to make sure nobody got hurt. Magic was volatile, fangs were sharp, and fire burned. Humans didn't have to worry about those things. Their only concerns out here were keeping track of their drinks, having a safe ride home, and maybe finding a friendly face to bring back with them.
She envied the simplicity of it all.
