Overview of the First Week

I am now nearing the end of the first week of the module and I feel I have made a good start to the new project. The week has been spent dissecting the brief for both the ‘Ways of Seeing’ and the ‘100% Optical’ competition. I have carried out research into the field of optometry and have researched the latest trends in eyewear.

I am now in the process of putting my ideas onto paper as I have also completed some research based around Appropriate Practitioners to gain inspiration on the world of visual merchandising as well as the work of current graphic communicators.

I have a few ideas of what I would like to do for the 100% Optical competition which has my full attention. I hope to complete the design stage by monday with in depth sketches and models to be made on tuesday for the final design I hope to submit. Next Wednesday will be spent adding the finishing elements to my proposal and compiling it all into a PDF presentation to present to my tutor group on thursday where I will be told if I am able to submit my design.

From that point onwards I will be focussing solely on further developing ideas and concepts for my Ways of Seeing brief and my ‘Isms’ typographic’ brief.

Next Friday we will be required to present our progress so far in front of two lecturers which will weigh 15% of our Final mark.

I have spent a lot of time catching up on my FYP as I have left it aside due to the group work. So far, I can safely say, that my research is at its end, even though due to the nature of my work it IS my project. But the reading and researching the book is done, so to speak.

Recently I have designed different clothing designs for Dante which I have yet to clean up and upload. So far I am satisfied with my progress with that.

I have decided to design some clothing before I progress to the face as I must revisit my knowledge of anatomy before deciding to draw a design from my head.
