(I’m not a proffessional singer YET, but I have been in singing lessons for the past 5 years so I know a thing or two)

Starting right off, here are some basic facts: ●Hydrate for 24 hours before you sing publicly in an event. Hydrating on the spot wont help too much. It helps but… 24 hour rule.

●warm up for at least 15 minutes before publicly singing. Do NOT over warm your voice because that can lead to losing it or voice cracks.

●Don’t overpush yourself (voice cracks, losing your voice and can even lead to vocal chord damage)

●if you’re feeling stressed before you sing, find a quiet place to sit or lay doen for a few minutes.

●If you feel de-motivated or tired pre-singing, run in place or do some excersise.

Warming up tips:

●Do physical excersise while warming up. Nothing too strenuous but do squats while doing thr low warming up and as you get higher, maybe grab a tension rope and pull it. We do this because we don’t sing from our lungs, we sing from our diaphragm. So when you pull a tension rope, it keeps your shoulders still and not bunched up and makes you squeeze your diaphragm to really get that note out.

BREATHING TIPS:

Believe it or not, learning how to breathe is freaking hard. It has to do with your stance, posture and lots or thinking before you get it down pat.

Think that all your breath is going down to your stomach. Keep your shoulders relaxed. Don’t gasp for air because you get less air that way. Instead, open the back of your throat and breathe deeply.

The higher in your chest your air is, the less air you have. So think low.

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, like you are a “H” personified.

Keep your posture perfect, like your on a strig being picked up. Head is up, but not too much. Chin straight. Shoulders relaxed.

High note tip(s): (Im a soprano lol) ●when you sing high notes, look down. This allows more space in the back of your throat to be used and therefore the sound will be clearer.

●and vice versa, when singing low, look slightly up.

Extras that will help:

●when you sing, dont drink cold water. Drink room temperature water instead. This keeps the vocal chords loose Room temp water or warm tea.

●NEVER DRINK/EAT COFFEE OR DAIRY PRODUCTS. THIS WILL CAUSE PHLEGM AND PHLEGM IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. Drink leaf water instead :3
