Saturday Morning Reflection | When No One Is Keeping Score
There is a difference between doing what is required and investing in something larger than yourself.
Many people fulfill their responsibilities, meet expectations, and move on. Others choose to contribute beyond the boundaries of their own obligations. They encourage colleagues, support their communities, share their knowledge, and help build environments where others can succeed.
The value of those contributions is not always visible in the moment. In fact, they often go unnoticed.
Yet professional goodwill, trust, and opportunity are rarely built overnight. They are often the result of countless small decisions made over time—acts of service, collaboration, and support that may never appear on a résumé or performance evaluation.
When opportunities, recommendations, or helping hands appear later, they are sometimes connected to foundations that were laid long before anyone was paying attention.
Sometimes the opportunities we receive later are shaped by the contributions we made when no one was keeping score.
