#pro ward

The more I watch of this show, the more pro-Ward I get. Everybody everywhere is always gaslighting him, no wonder he picks one idea and follows it no matter what

Maybe Ward being the protector/older brother of the team and Skye's love interest would've been too easy/cliche/predictable, but I fucking wanted it, and now, given the alternative, I really really fucking want it. 

Early morning thoughts: Okay, so I gave myself a heart attack yesterday because of the following theory. I was at work (I work at Disneyland) in the Lego store where they had the escape from hulk lab playset with - taskmaster. And I had a sudden vivid terrible thought, that what if the AOS connection isn't Trip, what if it's Ward as taskmaster? Then I realized that would be dumb. I'm curious if I'm the only person who'd actually be interested if they took Ward in that direction? They have a ton of serums that they stole both from the fridge and from other places. Super soldier Ward versus Inhuman Skye would be a great contrast from the writing world, and it would also be an interesting dynamic. Last of the old world first of the new. I feel like it'd be the perfect compromise and give Ward a chance to redeem himself in a way, in maybe the only way that could appease the absolute violent haterade that people seem to spew in Ward's direction (I mean seriously Loki didn't get this much hate what the hell.) Look. Ward has done some really terrible things, Taskmaster has also done some terrible things, but what the media is omitting is that Task master has: - Also done some really stupid things (mostly to himself) - Actually got a reboot in 2010 that had him being more anti-hero-y and less mercenary. - Befriends deadpool (and if we all don't love deadpool then what is there in life to love. Sure he can never come to marvel (oh god though I feel like Mickey might get on his knees and beg for him back if there was the remotest chance) and actually opens a business with him. - Was working as a double agent to defeat the AIM high council and while he did end up getting shot by Mockingbird she purposefully didn't hit anything vital (w2g bobbi). Granted they would have to retool his rather tragic origin story to fit Ward: But honestly Ward's origin story is pretty tragic in and of itself and in a way it's like the character death that the majority of the fandom so desperately craves (and seriously, if you're reading this and you're still drinking of the haterade get a life.) It would take time, but as we know nothing in life is ever easy. Even if he has to come back as a villain the thing with Taskmaster is that memory problems usually mean that you go looking for a solution and it'd give ward a chance to escape his family and what they did to him. Like pressing restart. I mean - Look okay let's be honest. Why start an arc with a family member like Christian and then let him die two episodes in. This screams lazy writing or alternatively listening to the people who wanted him to be a straight up villain. "Hey Brett Dalton can do this! Why not abandon more character development so that people can get some asskicking because LOL WE'RE MARVEL AND WE CAN FORGO ADDRESSING REAL ISSUES IN FAVOR OF PANDERING TO THE AUDIENCE/PROVIDING HOT PEOPLE IN SPANDEX." (Look I'm really mad they introduced all that mental health stuff and never addressed it. I really don't like that, I don't like how Joss and Jed treat mental health issues and I still feel like they'll give that arc to Bakshi and regardless of how much I'd be okay with him getting some help I don't like that someone with obvious issues was just allowed to languish. This bothers me to the point that if I didn't stand by "They can do whatever the hell they want" I fantasize about bringing it up to them at a comic book convention. That's a rant for another day however.) But we know that Chloe and Brett were cast for their chemistry and even if he's not hellfire (which is still plausible) having him as Taskmaster could be a way for him to stick around and really consider his life and his choices. If somebody who was completely reset learned about all the things they'd done what better way for him to start a redemption arc for real. Again? So anti-warders get to be happy, because Task master can be terrible at people. Hooray for you. And pro-warders, those of us who know that Brett Dalton can pull off a fantastic performance can get a guy who would confront what he'd done and then honestly decide I don't want to be that person anymore, I don't want to live for anyone I just want to live for me because The sense of self that I have is so fragile that I have to protect it. No one wants Skyeward/Ward and a happy ending to happen more then me. Trust me, and they've said and made direct comparisons to him being their Spike so he's gotta stick around, but Brett can deliver the acting chops to make Task Master the awesome anti-villain he's supposed to be. Not only does that leave him a space to be on AOS but maybe even on the Defenders or the other marvel shows. Brett and his partner deserve that. Make a name for himself doing what would be a really hard role and then y'know give the guy the leading man status he deserves. So I'm throwing down the gauntlet Mo, Jed, and Joss. I'm throwing down a challenge. I'll stick around for Ward as taskmaster. I'll stick around for him seemingly going full villain if you make this guy a fully rounded character instead of John Garrett. I will forgive you letting a man who obviously needed psychiatric help not get it, I won't call attention to it and I will keep repping agents of shield to every single person who comes into my diner. (I won't stop repping marvel, obviously, but I have a nice segue where I just sit there and slam everybody in a marvel shirt with how great this show is. That's right route 66's got your back NOT TO MENTION my fellow cast members.) What you have to do is you have to make task master this: and not this: Because that's a cop out, you introduced a bunch of shit that never got resolved, and I know you were pandering to the audience. On that basis alone I'd stop watching. You chose what you want to share with us. If people don't like it that's their business. You shouldn't have to adjust your vision for the rest of us blue collar slobs. You should encourage us to think and make smart choices and accept that there are good and bad people in the world and sometimes bad people can get better and good people can end up bad. The whole message behind everything that Ward's done so far is that you shouldn't live in the past and you do have the right to make choices and I think what people on tumblr forget is that you never stop having the right to make choices. Whatever happened in your past, if you still let it affect you without facing it head on then you're the one with the problem. If you can't do that Mo Jed and Joss, if you can't make it realistic or make me feel, then we're done. And that would break my heart. I stand with ward, and if this is the way the wind is blowing then I'll do my best to make my peace with that. You've heard my demands. I welcome any changes, challenges, thoughts, questions, even hate if y'all want to fling it. Just be aware that I reserve the right to defend my opinion.
