Oh man. Wall-E is 17 years old now.
I've got some things to say about this movie because I love this movie and I'm a huge fan of stories to teach morals and lessons so here are some takeaways from Wall-E from a stoned manic bitch:
If we don't do something about huge corporations ruining the planet, we are going to suffocate in garbage.
The solution is not in space, but here in taking care of our planet.
The captain decides life is worth more than rotting in the ship because of all the things he learns from the computer. Because he sees the plant and how fragile it is and how all it needs is love and care and how if we had maybe done that instead of just leaving earth they wouldn't have been on the ship for 700 years.
And the ship itself is just like hey.. uh.. don't get too sucked up in the ads and the screens. John and Mary get unplugged from their chairs because wall-E crosses their paths and they are able to experience totally new things and make a genuine connection which is something you hear many of the people complain about lacking when the camera pans over the screen chatter.
And Wall-E and EVE are ND in different ways but are able to connect and I love how you can see the different sensory needs between the two of them because they have different robot bodies and "directives."
And Wall-E inspires peaceful rebellion all over the ship because he is just this unexpected chaos but he waves and he chirps and he introduces himself to everyone and it confuses everyone so much they wonder why they haven't always been doing that.
And then the broken robots. Omfg. When their dysfunctions became the things that helped protect Wall-E and EVE on the way to save the plant, but they were not treated as broken by Wall-E at any point, simply different than him?
There are so many fucking layers to this movie that I glossed over in the feel good movie that probably turned me into the hippie that I'm aspiring to be....
We gotta talk about it more. Please. Someone talk about Wall-E with me.
