“If it doesn’t lift, it doesn’t print.” It’s always fun to set some type and stink up the office with mineral spirits and rubber-based ink. This time was to print invitations to @minemosyne’s and my 8th annual tea party. It’s taken me a few years to get quick at setting, and to get a nice liftable lock-up, but I’m finally getting some pretty consistent results out of my Adana Eight-Five. In the past I’be done business cards, greeting/event cards, and even a glow-in-the-dark Astronomy Bingo card. Keeping letterpress supplies on hand isn’t easy (>2000lb. of metal type), cheap ($1/sheet paper), or practical (ever-dried-out rubber ink), but a day of sweating over quality prints is worth it all.
