Teacher Professional Development Workshop: Art as Activism Monday, January 21, 2019 1–3 pm Meet in the Education Studios, 1st Floor Join us for a day of action in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, at Brooklyn Museum, with two professional development workshops for educators to reflect on the intersection of art and racial justice and enliven their teaching practices through art engagement. Facilitated by artist Nate Lewis and art education advocate Minkie English of PrintbyPrint Group, this workshop invites educators to take an active role in creating a more equitable society through art-making. First, explore the intersections of empathy, race, history, and the human body expressed in Lewis' work. Then, engage in an art-making project with easy and innovative ways to expand students' knowledge and promote social justice through art, using methods that reduce the resource barriers in classroom art-making.
