PrimeFlight Fact Sheet
On November 20th baggage handlers and customer service representatives employed by PrimeFlight Aviation Services, the second largest airline subcontractor at PHL went on strike to protest recent Unfair Labor Practices committed by the company including attempts by PrimeFlight to intimidate them and stop their efforts to raise standards at PHL. A few weeks after PrimeFlight worker Misha Williams delivered a petition to PrimeFlight management demanding better wages, the company fired her. Several other PrimeFlight workers have reported being interrogated about whether they would strike. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is now investigating these incidents. In addition, the NLRB recently issued a formal unfair labor practice complaint against PrimeFlight finding probably cause the company violated workers’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act. For more than two years, low-wage subcontracted airport service workers at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) have been organizing to improve their working conditions and the quality of aviation services. Specifically workers have been fighting for living wages, affordable benefits, safer working conditions, enhanced training, adequate equipment, and respect on the job.
