Barbara's response to Prilly is pretty insane actually. Like, he was angry, yeah, but I think justifiably so. All he did was ask questions and she immediately started looking at the exit and crying. Like, openly and loudly sobbing. She clearly thought Prilly was very dangerous but did nothing to report him (which she really should have done if she thought he was a threat to himself or others, which she clearly did by this very reaction)
like, she clearly knew what she did was a massive breach of trust, and fully anticipated that prilly would be (rightfully) pissed
washing machines is probably my favourite song on the album
part of me is strangely so happy that prilly made a friend, but there's also the underlying tragedy of it all
Prilly has spent all this time cutting himself off from everyone in his life, to the point where the only two people he interacts with (aside from laundromat guy and the dude with the car in trophy case) are Rudiff and his therapist. His mother gets a couple of passing mentions, but he makes it clear he's cut her off too
but in washing machines...

not only do I love the delivery of these lines, and how earnest and thoughtful and genuine they are, but the deeper, sadder fact that prilly is so close to reaching out again, to realising that he should surround himself with people who matter to him, people who listen and care, but he doesn't quite manage it
