THE CITY LIGHTS WERE ONLY AS FAMILIAR as the pictures he’d memorized from books. The people that pass him by just as unassuming as they were ignorant to the hell that had just landed on their shores. His attention is caught by a couple talking among themselves by the edge of the sidewalk, cars blazing past them in flashes ––– one wrong move and one of them is gone forever. No goodbyes. No nothing. Just the frozen feeling of losing everything you loved at the slip of fingertips. Forcibly, he pulls his gaze away and follows the flow of the crowd. Taking him towards the direction of the club where the demon his father’s minions had been consorting with would be found. His Father had warned him to leave it be but alas, he was busy and he had free time to himself. He’s sure he wouldn’t mind if he used his own skills of persuasion on the fool who tried to bargain Jocelyn Morgenstern’s location for a favor.
Young adults are en masse as he slips through the back entrance, avoiding detection until he finds his subject in the middle of the dance floor. Lips already carved into a wicked grin when the demon notices him, its wrist caught in his grip before the thing could flee and run off into the night. There were witnesses he knew he should care about or at the very least concerned would notice the wrong thing but the rush had began to swell in his chest and in the flutter of a breeze, he has him at the lesser occupied places, far from prying eyes. Arm now twisted behind him almost taunting the thing to break out of its shell and reveal itself as the worm that it was.
“ Let’s assume you’re not as simpleminded as the most of your kind and know who I am and why I’m here. “ He hissed right in its ear. There’s a cry that’s less human and more insect when he pulls his blade free from its clasp behind him and show it off to the thing. Fear trembling straight from its spine as he chuckled. “ We’re in agreement then. You’re survival for more information. “ He lets him go with a shove, rage seething in its eyes when it spun around to face him, skin breaking right from the mouth, choosing now to rid himself of this form but Jonathan moving far too fast to give him the satisfaction. He was already bored of it anyway. One thrust and a twist of the blade later, he cuts through his spine right through its chest, expelling muck and venom as it disintegrates around Phaeosphoros. His victory only marked by the singes on the floor and a piercing scream.
Dark hues searched the crowd for its source, black eyes landing on a pair of green ones behind a curtain of red hair ––– could it be?
