Everyone’s coconuts for coconuts these days. To get your dog...
Made these up for the furkids, Doja and Deus, yesterday. Deus usually eats anything, but has become more picky as he witnesses Doja's epic picking ability... We now have two snob dogs who do not want to eat their raw coconut oil. No worries - this recipe is the answer! Simple with few ingredients, the only substitute I had to make was for the coconut flakes. I ran out, but had cashews on hand and crushed those in the Vitamix dry blade, then put them in a small bowl. Then I subbed out all the other ingredients and used the dry blade to mix the dough. It was a little warm in my kitchen, so i refrigerated the carafe for a bit to let the coconut oil harden up, which made the balls much more pliable than the first few i tried. I made my balls really small, 1/2-1 tsp in size, because my dogs are small. I figure if they eat 3-5 treats a day max, that would be a good daily amount of consumptions! Needless to say, Deus was stalking me around the kitchen once he had his first treat :) Bravo!
