Reading the #medicine tag for "pre-meds" is so unintentionally hilarious. Point 1: You are a biosci major, get over yourself.
Point 2: You should not even attempt to become a doctor if the idea of socialized medicine makes you not want to practice. Every other developed country in the world has socialized medicine and their medical systems have not collapsed and their physicians are not living in hovels. Really, you'd walk away from a med school offer if Obamacare is implemented? That would be pathetic if it weren't so hilarious.
Point 3: (and this is a serious one) There is no such thing as a non-recoverable error. Less than stellar marks are not going to keep you out of medicine if that is what you are driven to do. My undergrad GPA was not spectacular but I had a solid 4.0 in grad studies because I was doing what I loved. Apply, apply, and apply again. If it matters to you, if it is the only thing you can imagine yourself doing, if you wake up in the morning excited by the thought of seeing patients, keep at it. You will find a way to get there.
