he didn’t show weakness. that was what it meant to be a kuzuryuu and he understood this, since the moment he was able to comprehend the word. as a child, he seldom cried or backed down from a fight when people tried to push him around. he had the responsibility of being a future leader of the kuzuryuu clan on his shoulders and he couldn’t afford to give anyone a reason to doubt him.
because of this, he didn’t remember the last time that he did cry. of course, he had when he was little and didn’t know any better, memories that he kept locked up and untouched for years. he hardly blinked an eye when anyone gave him shit, especially his own family.
he couldn’t even bring himself to cry when he was staring at the corpse of his little sister, only to stare with determination as he plotted from that moment exactly how he would exact revenge on the bastards who did this to his bratty little sister. as bratty and annoying as she was, she didn’t deserve to die so young.
he barely said a word to anyone and didn’t even bother to attend class, although attendance hardly mattered to those who were ultimate. it was a wonder that a school that was supposed to be on top of its shit allowed the murder of an innocent student to be swept under the rung, shortly made two.
but there was only so much that running purely on revenge can do for him.
he found himself alone, back pressed up against a wall as he brought his knees to his chest, and the tears came. no matter what he did, no matter if he actually did wind up killing sato for what she did to natsumi, nothing would change. he failed to protect his little sister and he would never be able to forget that fact, he could practically hear her voice continuing to chide him for his actions. he cared more about his classmates than he did about her, of course. he hadn’t cared about the rumors of threats being passed around in the reserve course to take any precautionary measures.
these thoughts took over and he didn’t even notice her enter until a hand was being pressed to his shoulder, his entire body tensing in return. he looked out of the corner of his tear filled eyes to see peko lowering herself to his level, not able to look at her for more than five seconds before getting frustrated with himself and adverted his gaze.
“s-she’s gone, peko... she’s really fuckin’ gone and i... i don’t know what to do...”
his words were gentle and very much broken, all that he could bring himself to say. following those words, he didn’t tell her to leave and he didn’t shake off her hand. he simply continued to cry, unable to keep in the tears that he had bottled over years and years of refusal to show weakness.
NOT ACCEPTING // idk something about her comforting him when he’s crying
