omg a question abt fool me twice (i have been... so tired... but i am still workin on that story i am never not in the mood to write it honestly)

this is spoilery so maybe don't actually peek under the cut unless you're cool w that

grips the handle of his cup with all five fingers like he would a doorknob

lips turn rapidly downward when he smiles as though he's trying to unsmile before anyone sees him

devotes the same amount of attention to tying his shoelaces as he does to a student's exam paper

tried to multitask once and nearly killed someone

mother sends him overize sweaters sometimes in the winters and he quietly leaves them on nowaki's bed when he thinks nowaki isn't looking

forgets to blink when he's thinking really hard. when he's thinking really really hard undertakers would probably start enbalming him on sight

tends to edit just about everything he reads with a little pencil he carries around specifically for that purpose, even if it's a published work

but personally i prefer the idea of nowaki just being so overwhelmingly uncool. this is a kid who grew up without any parents to police his habits, who moved out of his orphanage in his early teens and lived alone till the age of twenty-five; hiroki literally says that nowaki wears the same clothes for three days straight, occasionally forgetting to shower, and in JE 1 we've seen him show up to his crush's place absolutely filthy after his job at the construction site. (i'm guessing it was hiroki who ordered him to take a shower, since nowaki wouldn't have asked to use someone else's bathroom.) a nowaki that sweats like a horse and forgets to do something about it is the opposite of sexy.

he's extremely driven in matters both romantic and professional, and this does not always translate to charm. his advances are (sometimes rightly) brushed off by hiroki as untimely and childlike. he's neglected his personal life for the sake of his career several times, too - balancing the two out is understandably hard for him when he's so invested in both. he's been rude and inconsiderate and allowed his insecurities to get in the way of clear communication; nowaki is far from being the perfect boyfriend or perfect human being in canon.

like yeah we're all fond of saying that the entire fandom wants to get into nowaki's pants and i can see why, he's still really cute and honestly one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, but you're missing out on a lot of personality here if you don't acknowledge the things that make him realistic as a person
