of course there is. staying connected with family and neighbors in imperative to survival. rabbits have developed a shortwave radio system that lets them communicate between warrens but unless they’re huge, most warrens only have one radio. and they don’t use those very often because for some reason they attract owls.
there are also Spirit Phones, a form of necromancy very old warrens still use. its more like channeling than anything. they take a lot of skill to create and use but they’re very reliable. they’d be used much more if it wasn’t for the incidents.
really nothing beats just sending a letter or recording though. the postal service is pretty reliable and runs on a very tight schedule. depending on where its going most things arrive in one to three days (on the island, the mainland is a whole ‘nother kettle of fish). mail might even arrive or be picked up multiple times a day depending on where your postal worker is going after they visit you. for this reason most mail is opened at night, since that’s when deliveries stop. there have been more than a few instances where crises was averted because a “Wait, shit. DISREGARD” letter was found before action was taken.
rabbit postal workers make use of swift armored walking worms, riding bugs, and underground cart systems, while vulture workers handle air deliveries. traveling workers mostly focus on getting mail to the warrens or post offices safely, while sorting and door to door delivery is carried out by internal warren staff or post offices (post offices aren’t very common unless the area has a lot of smaller warrens or single burrows).
postal workers wear regular camouflaged capes but the lining is always blue and gold.
