For a moment Katniss gets to be a girl who misses the boy she has feelings for, and does something silly just to talk to him. To hear his voice and know he is alright. And that is SUCH a lovely thing to me, especially in the midst of everything they are being put through. It is beautiful and affordable to me. 

Personally I like to think once they get back to being with one another after the Rebellion there are plenty of moments like this Katniss and Peeta get/allow themselves to have. Peeta taking Katniss on a date, her calling him at work or stopping by to have lunch with him. Going on picnics together or listening to music and maybe even trying to dance while they are alone if Peeta’s leg can handle it (put that in the list of ‘everlark things I need to write’). 

“Call her.”

“No.”

Peeta looks me over anxiously before reaching for the receiver of the phone next to our couch.

“She’s going to ask questions,” I grumble.

Peeta goes scarlet, sitting next to me. “Tell her it was my fault.”

“Yeah, that’s probably not going to help any.” Hesitantly, I dial Mom’s number in District 4 and she answers after a single ring. “Hi Mom!”

My overly cheerful voice catches her attention immediately. “What happened?”

“I…I have an…injury.”

“Where?” she asks.

Looking down at the ice pack on my crotch, I glare at Peeta and start to explain.

*throws Hayffie art at you and runs*

Hayhanna and Toastbabies—just an awesome combination. Especially Johanna’s interactions with the little ones. Without even thinking about it, there is something very nurturing in her.

Also, I too enjoyed the tub scene—it was very intimate yet not in the sexual way, which I liked.

Anyway, I would not be adverse to writing a part two where we follow up on our couple and also meet toastbaby #3. :D
