Preparation and life's unexpected reality.
So with a little one I’m finding it rather difficult to get things done … I constantly feel as though the options are sleep or getting stuff on my to do list done …. I’m choosing sleep more often than not.
Only problem with this is I need to leave the house, I need to get stuff done, I want to socialise with my best friend and her kids yet when we’re there all she does is sleep so I want to sleep but that would be unsociable and impossible with a nearly 5yr old, 2yr old and a 7 month old screaming, crying and throwing tantrums all the while wanting to show you things, play, hold and give our little one things.
Now I prepared for my due date, my hospital bag was packed and ready before the end of my second trimester (I was premature so preparing for that possibility). The shopping had been done and I made sure the cupboards were full of jars and tinned food and the fridge was fully stocked with fresh food for quick easy meals All the washing was done and put away. The house was clean and tidy and the bedroom was set up.
Then I was in hospital for 3 days before I even had her and 4 days after so all my preparation fell apart. The washing quickly piled up and fresh food went off.
Since then I’ve slowly been playing catch up, unfortunately with a partner that has a habit of changing his clothes atleast twice a day (he apparently has to change when he goes on Skype to his friends -_-), takes 3 days to do the washing up and taking the bins out will only get done if I ask him twice before I attempt to and he tells me off for doing too much. Don’t even get me started on food … I have to ask him, yet he can make himself something and won’t offer to cook me anything or he’ll ask what I want in hopes of take away and I’ll suggest something to cook and he’ll say okay he’ll go put in on now … come back upstairs and hour later and will have forgotten to even get the bits out of the freezer.
(Sorry mini rant)
I wish I’d sorted her clothes out - rummaging through however many baby grows, onesies and sleep suits looking for the right size and weight is a nightmare.
Sorted out the steriliser, bottles and pump ready for use would have been ten times easier without the crying child every couple of hours.
Stocking up on pillows - OMG I need so many now, 3 behind my back so it doesn’t ache ½ for breastfeeding, breastfeeding pillow and 1 to put underneath because those things are like bricks their that solid and a couple more so I don’t actually lay down to go to sleep because I wouldn’t be able to get up. Worse thing is after a while they compress and then you need more to build up the same amount of space :/
