“Holy fel, you weren’t kidding, you look like shit!”
“Nice to see you too, Kara.” He pulled her into a gentle hug before she scurried off to get them some tea and treats.
She wasn’t wrong. His little bout of madness in the Undermines left him looking like a walking, talking bruise. Who knew that barreling through a mass of black blood monstrosities could be so detrimental to one’s health? He smirked at the thought, it was probably quite the sight to see. The fractures and lacerations were easy enough to heal with the Light, but the bruises left in their wake needed to go away on their own and that would take some time.
He stopped in her living room, glancing at the mirror on the wall and touching the swollen, dark skin around one eye. Walking through Silvermoon this way had been fun, all the gasps and pitied looks. It reminded him of the Legion attacks at Tarren Mill when a colossal demon had smacked him across the entire town and into a brick wall. Everyone surely thought he was dead, but in the end he managed to escape with only a few nicks, minor fractures, and a whole lot of bruises.
Dicenne had always claimed to be non-magical in nature, but some things were impossible to ignore. He couldn’t harness the arcane or the Light, nor could he cast spells of any variety, but he could lift much more weight than he should be able to. He could withstand or even ignore massive amounts of pain, and it took extra pressure to be able to even slice through his skin. Obviously there were some magical forces here at play, even if it wasn’t obvious to the naked eye. It had saved his life more than once at this point.
“Come, come, sit down. Let me take care of you for once.” Kara herded him to her couch and laid out a spread of teas, cookies, cakes, brownies, and…nachos. “It’s to cut through all the sweets, don’t give that look.” She took a seat on the floor nearby and began digging into the goodies herself. “So tell me all about it! And pictures! You must have pictures! Not pictures of the attack, I don’t wanna see that. It sounds awful and I’m sorry that you all went through that, and I’m sorry all the people that lost lives and loved ones in it and that’s truly awful BUT it sounds like everything turned out ok in the end and the Undermines are a better place! Maybe I could visit there, OH, we could go and gamble, you know I’ve always wanted to go to one of those big, fanc–”
“Kara...” He chuckled softly as to not perturb his achy body. He knew she felt left out at times, but the mercenary crew was no place for her even if she did have some training. “I’ll take you there when it gets more settled, don’t worry. We can do everything you want to do. Did you know they have jetpacks you can race around on?”
She bit her bottom lip and grinned. “I’m just really glad you and the others are all back and safe.”
