Out of all the pictures I've come across, this is by far my favorite photo!
This wedding picture was taken by my aunt who lives in the States.
The picture depicts a woman doing a traditional Somali dance at a wedding, this image is captured while she’s in motion. This type of dance is done in a circle of women and you are cheered on with the drumming.
Everything about this photo is lovely to me, the colorfully dressed women behind her, the lighting, the wooden floor, her facial expression, the henna on her hand, the positioned she’s frozen in, everything is just gorgeous!
My aunt is a photographer, and this is one of her works. Because I am familiar with the dance I know what she’s about to do next. Judging by her smile this wedding seems like a fun wedding to be at.
I too am interested in photographing weddings, especially Somali weddings and especially during the time of traditional dancing, Somali wedding dressing is very colorful and pleasing to the eyes!
