Mental Health Awareness
Mental health is a topic a lot are scared to talk about and open up about and itâs totally understandable because itâs a sentive topic to talk about and when you donât grow up learning how to talk about your feelings and how to process them you donât tend to want to talk about this topic
Itâs very important i feel for us all to be educated in mental health awareness not just for ourselves but for our loved ones and future patients itâs important we have the tools to be able to help someone else if the time ever came to use those skills i never want to be in a space where someone is telling me their mental health is in danger and i canât do anything to help or ease the pain or anger they are feeling inside learning basic awareness is the least we as health care professionals can do even it itâs just listening to a patient talk about whatâs going on even if they are not looking for a solution iâve learned that alot of times people just want a listening ear someone to seat beside them hear them out and comfort they not everyone is looking for advice or a lesson when they are already mentally so drained with all their carrying on them itâs important to ask the person what they need from you in that moment so you know best how to help and support that person to the best of your ability.
There is such a stigma around Mental health for many because it has become something people shy away from or hide from instead of embracing whatâs going on and finding solutions to whatâs going on with them i think it all has to do with not feeling safe to tell someone or seek help because their afraid of the consequences of feeling embarrassed or outed for whatâs going on when instead they should feel safe to get help and not have to face the backlash of people being mean or making jokes about a persons illness itâs truly something big we are currently still facing in the United states there are way to may people who are dying each year, each month, each day, and hour based on suicidal cases caused by depression from mental health issues not being addressed.
