Oooh I love me a good shift talk, so imma yap my thoughts and rate them 😋
So I like to think of them "meeting" to about early 25-26 season as "growing pains" phase because they were young (still are) and in their rookie year. The off-season was dull until Halifax (or so sources say from that time) and of course the balcony. Save to say willmack weren't seen much displaying this behavior. Their over the top cellys became a point of interest that when pointed out, it stopped.
The pens (dec, 13, 25) this shift confirmed SOMETHING. Like, perhaps it was in the back of the mind, something said off handedly, like "yeah sure I would fight for you you're my teammate, line mate, ect (whatever we consider us to be)" like the type of thing you would say to someone as to not be seen a dick because obviously if someone close to you hits you with a "if I were a worm would you still love me?" The thing to say would be yeah because otherwise you would look like a dick. Fighting to stand up for a team mate is common but for them, for mack this was something else and soon will would learn it too. There's something MORE to them. I give it a 10/10 love the drama, the loyalty
Post Olympics (🫧🚬 my favorite because I got into wm after will got back and saw a bit of how they were before and post Olympics and actually understood what the hell is hockey) NOW POST OLYMPICS, man... this was a confirmation, a nail in the coffin if you will. There will never be anyone else but you, type feel. Will was the moving all the pieces. We had no loud " 'murica caw caw 🦅" proclaiming love for his country win post, just one post about the win with the acknowledgement for Johnny Gaudreau. Then spa music in wills apple account and the skiped practice AND THE EDIT. all that in the days after the Olympics. What followed were the smelling salts and matching outfits. 11/10
Marmon the messy shift, the generation run. Now its macks turn to do all the moves and follow will (maybe just wanted to see his brother and other friends. Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone) Honest to god I would like to know what happened to macks luggage (did he even pack?) It all seemed hasty, quick and fun. At the end of the night mack is with Will and then the will, gabe, mack photo... a bit of an off vibe to that week (i blame the alcohol) 6/10 maybe a 7/10 because of the bouncer calling mack a total babe
Hometowns, Now they are a unit. Will goes to van and mack goes back with will 🫪 its the gift that keeps giving. Showing each other special childhood places and getting to know important people and dynamics that are not seen during the regular season. Seeing them simply be out side work 🥹 MACK SIGNED HIS CONTRACT AND WILL POSTED AN IG STORY (quite silly) there's a similar vibe that of the last game. A sense of serenity, to exist together underneath the sun, of simple enjoyment. There is a balance here. They have always been respectful, caring, and each other's biggest fan but this 🫧🚬 is a new vibe. 20/10
To me all this read as they weren't sure of what to do about what they had off the ice, so why continue it in the off season and once we get going it will click again. To this is serious we should lock in. To did they really talk about it? Or just thought they had an understanding. To clearly an understanding was made and they are happy with it (#whateverthatmaybe)
Only time will tell what more shifts there will be or what it all truly means. So for now I wonder, with their new understanding what will happen? I think they will continue their salts and maybe go back to doing their cellys. ( I wonder if post hometowns shift willmack did the hard cellys and not them in their growing pains, would they have stopped?)
