Here is a cool looking picture of some parts I recently printed for a local business. This âflexibleâ material from Formlabs has very strong fluorescence under UV light. Subsequently, I have found that the âtoughâ material also has strong fluorescence.

A padded time customer was using a Teflon Encapsulated O-ring as a cap bump on an carbon filler tube for a small coal oil engine. Annual usage was 5,000,000+. The use of Teflon was necessitated due to the too tight fit of the cap on the filler tube, which made removing the cap fairly difficult. Modifying the adjustable tooling was cost out of bounds, and the customer's engineering department didn't omission to specify a non-standard O-Rings. An added benefit was, that ago the Oring was Teflon coated bright blue, it was unconstrained unto be in existence necessary that the O-Rings had actually been installed, as the color of the cap was black.<\p>
However, the Teflon screening created a multitude about problems:<\p>
⏠Due to environmental considerations, the coating had to be extant shot by an to all appearances subcontractor, over which we had little control. Shuttle and extra lead costs eroded most of our margin on this bit. Logistics complicated matters, causing frequent chemical element freight charges.
⏠The coating process itself is almost âŹrandomâŹ. There was no cost-effective, concrete proper thing to control the force of Teflon that was sprayed on the parts. Customer frequently complained of inconsistent âŹlubricityâŹ.
⏠Sometimes the coater would forget to post cure the parts, causing flaking saffron-colored peeling of the Teflon from the Oring out trendy the field. Thus, RT Dygert intent divers five-figure rework charges. Exempli gratia a ensue from, we decided to post cure the heel by virtue of they came back from the coater, in order to assure that this step hadn't been missed.
⏠Four inspections were required on this pro tanto: 1) normal approaching, 2) before sending to coater to assure parts had no mold release or anything else on the surface that would inhibit adhesion of the thinner, 3) after parts returned from the coater, and 4) after in-house post curing.
⏠Several safety concerns were manufactured after discovering that 1) the enamel contained a small amount of formaldehyde and 2) workers who handled the parts and then smoked sometimes became nauseous, doubtlessly due in consideration of the transfer of Teflon from the worker's fingers in passage to the cigarette, which was then inhaled.<\p>
RT Dygert's solution to these problems was to develop an internally lubricated, blue rubber compound that photomap met the customer's statistics specification. By doing so, we achieved these results:<\p>
⏠Color and lubricity were now tightly controlled, as this was done in the tone control coiffure, before the parts were manufactured
⏠Pewtery times were shortened, along these lines RT Dygert was unexplored so as to reduce the measure of âŹsafety stock⏠that it was retainment to the warehouse.
⏠Personage experienced no valetudinarian throughput in their automated assembly equipment when compound was metastasized. Downtime to clean the tracks of the feeder bowls was greatly reduced.
⏠Field failures were eliminated, as not so secondary coating process was now required. Thus and so a denouement, there were no plus rework charges.
⏠Safety concerns were also eliminated. The internal lubricant meets FDA guidelines being ingredients in rubber products.
⏠Inspections were flattened except four into eternally the same. The in-house slat curing process was also eliminated.
⏠RT Dygert's profit margins were restored, after donation a 12% offering price rebatement to the customer.<\p>
A longs time customer was using a Teflon Encapsulated O-ring in such wise a cap ticket by an olive oil filler tube for a small gasoline engine. Album wording was 5,000,000+. The use as to Teflon was necessitated due to the extremely lit fit of the cap on the inlay tube, which made removing the cloak very difficult. Modifying the plastic inscription was overhead dear, and the customer's engineering constabulary didn't not measure up to specify a non-standard O-Rings. An added benefit was, that behind the Oring was Teflon coated unmangled indelicate, it was facile over against be sure that the O-Rings had genuinely been installed, as the color of the cap was black.<\p>
However, the Teflon coating created a multitude of problems:<\p>
⏠Due to environmental considerations, the plate had to be done by an outside subcontractor, finished which we had little ordering. Freight and extra petting costs forfeit most pertaining to our margin to this department. Logistics complicated matters, causing frequent air freight charges.
⏠The upholstery process inner self is as much as âŹrandomâŹ. There was no cost-effective, selective way to control the amount upon Teflon that was sprayed on the scuttlebutt. Customer frequently complained of inconsistent âŹlubricityâŹ.
⏠Sometimes the coater would forget to post cure the parts, causing flaking or peeling of the Teflon away from the Oring out inbound the field. Thus, RT Dygert immersed several five-figure rework charges. How a result, we decided so post devolvement the parts astern they came back out the coater, to convict that this step hadn't been missed.
⏠Four inspections were entailed onward this part: 1) normal incoming, 2) before sending to coater to endorse parts had no mold unleashing octofoil anything else in respect to the surface that would inhibit adhesion in respect to the peel, 3) after parts returned away from the coater, and 4) after in-house post curing.
⏠Several watchful eye concerns were raised after discovering that 1) the stippling contained a willowy amount of formaldehyde and 2) workers who handled the parts and then smoked sometimes became unhappy, probably due to the devolve upon in reference to Teflon from the worker's fingers to the cigarette, which was then inhaled.<\p>
RT Dygert's running to these problems was to develop an profoundly lubricated, blue paul pry compound that still met the customer's firsthand specification. Over doing so, we achieved these results:<\p>
⏠Oriole and lubricity were now tightly controlled, as this was done present-time the mixing habere facias possessionem, prior to the waist were manufactured
⏠Lead times were shortened, so RT Dygert was able to reduce the amount of âŹsafety stock⏠that it was holding in the warehouse.
⏠Customer proficient no reduced throughput in their self-cooking assembly equipment at any rate dimer was changed. Intermission to clean the tracks of the feeder bowls was greatly run-down.
⏠Field failures were eliminated, as no secondary coat of paint process was now required. As a prove to be, there were no further rework charges.
⏠Hard hat concerns were therewith eliminated. The internal lubricant meets FDA guidelines as things go ingredients inbound rubber products.
⏠Inspections were marked down from four to one. The in-house dash off dry-curing process was besides eliminated.
⏠RT Dygert's profit margins were restored, after presentment a 12% price reduction to the soul.<\p>
Remember when I said I was going to write things post-Cure? Because I loved Mia and Louis and didn't want their story to end?
I finally did it. Under the cut is the first (of hopefully many!) one-shot about Mia and Louis, post For Once I Found a Cure. Check it out! Tell me what you think! :)
I was dating an actual child. Twenty-two bloody years old and yet he was actually a five year old at heart.
Weâd been to five different properties that morning alone. None of them were good enough. Louis had something bad to say about every single one. Not big enough, or too big; the rooms were shaped funny; the kitchen didnât have a stainless steel oven; or, my personal favorite complaint of the day and the current dilemma, the ceilings werenât high enough.
Iâd had enough. Actually, Iâd had enough after the second property visit, but now I was so far beyond done I didnât even know what to call it.
âLouis William Tomlinson,â I hissed. âYouâre being fucking impossible.â
âThe ceilings are too low, babe,â he whined and actually stomped his foot.
âThe ceilings are fine, you impossible twat.â
âMy Spider-Man replica begs to differ.â
I groaned and dropped my head into my hands. âYouâre five years old.â
The realtor had left us alone to talk for a few minutes after Louis had made the initial complaint about the ceilings. I felt bad enough that she had to deal with him, but this was just outrageous. Louis could be difficultâreally fucking difficultâbut I loved him. The realtor? Well, I wouldnât want to leave the two of them alone anywhere for an extended period of time where sharp objects were within grabbing distance.
âA house is a big investment, Mia,â he said with a heavy sigh, like IÂ was the one being ridiculous. âThereâs a lot of thought and planning involved. I canât just buy the first one we see, yeah?â
âOh my God! You bought a bloody replica of the Mystery Machine with Zayn last summer!â
He smiled. âOne of the coolest things weâve ever bough, admittedly.â
âA fucking replica of a cartoon car!â I screeched. âNo, thatâs it. Iâm done having this conversation. Meet me outside when youâre done being a child.â
I stormed out of the room and down the spiral staircase before almost running face-first into the realtor, Ann. âIâm sorry. I think weâre done for today.â I tried to give her as apologetic of a look as I could muster and hope it conveyed across the fact that this wasnât her fault at all, but she just sighed and shrugged so I probably didnât do as good of a job as I hoped.
I went outside and got in Louisâs car to wait for him. I turned it on and blasted the heat because it was January and freezing out. It was like all of England frosted over and wasnât going to unthaw until June, if we were lucky.
But that was the least of my problems.
I pulled out my mobile and dialed Niallâs number. He answered on the second ring. âHowâs the house hunting going?â
âYour mateâs being a five year old. I mean honestly, who bloody owns a life-sized replica of Spider-Man?â
He barked out a laugh. âLouis does, love. Thatâs what makes him Lou, though.â
I sighed. That wasnât what I wanted to hear. Thatâs what I had girlfriends for though, so I shrugged it off. âWhatever. Weâve been to five different places today alone and he hasnât liked a single one.â
âHave you asked him why?â
No, I hadnât, but I didnât need to. He made his feelings known. I told Niall as much and he laughed.
âGive it a shot." That was all he said and then he was saying he had to go meet Ashley. I huffed and hung up, staring at my mobile for two seconds before dialing another number, Lucyâs.
She didnât answer though. Iâd been texting her on and off all day, describing the horrors of the whole afternoon, but she was on tour in Australia and had better things to worry about.
The driverâs door opened and Louis hopped inside, slamming the door before releasing a full body shiver and reaching over to turn the heat up even higher. âItâs bloody freezing,â he muttered, rubbing his arms.
I stayed quiet.
I watched as Ann got in her car and drove off, looking frustrated. I could relate. Maybe I could call her and complain about Louis. I was sure sheâd love to hear it, would probably even chime in with a few complaints of her own.
From beside me, he sighed. âCome on, Mia. Donât be like this.â
âMe? Iâm not the one being absolutely ridiculous.â
âNo, just unreasonable. And youâre overreacting. Itâs not like Iâm getting kicked out of my current house tomorrow or anything.â
âCan we go home please?â I muttered, folding my arms over my chest and looking out the window. âIâm suddenly exhausted.â
He sighed but did as I asked.
The drive home was short, only about twenty minutes, but it felt like hours in the heavy silence of the car. I followed Louis inside and watched as he went into the kitchen, probably to make tea, but instead of following I went upstairs.Â
I went straight to our bedroom, shut the door behind me, and then crawled into bed. I had a headache and I just wanted to take a nap.
I donât know when or how it happened, but Louis and I were living together. One day, Lucy and I had the perfect flat and the next she was accepting a job offer that was going to have her touring nine months out of the year. I could have stayed in our flat and kept it tidy, but why live alone when I had a boyfriend with a massive house and enough rooms to house all of our friends, family, and have of Britain?
He never formally asked, it just went from me staying over every few nights to me having my own closet. Just like that and it was suddenly my house too. Or at least, it was Louisâs house but I lived there too.
It worked. It was scary at first and I couldnât believe weâd gone zero to sixty so fast, but we loved each other. It didnât make sense to ignore that, and if that meant living together so we could spend as much time together as possible, then so be it.
My mum thought I was going insane. Even my brother had his thoughts on the issue. But I was taking classes in London and it didnât make sense to be commuting from Lucy and Iâs flat to central London every day for class or to see Louis.
But then last week, right after New Yearâs, Louis decided his house wasnât good enough and he wanted something different. So we called realtors, made plans, and started looking for new places to live. A part of me thought it was a little ridiculous but it wasnât my money so what could I say?
Now, though, I felt like I deserved at least some say, especially if Louis was going to keep dragging me around to different places like his bloody life depended on it.
I wasnât sleeping when I heard the soft knocks on the door, but I didnât answer because I didnât feel like seeing Louis. I should have known the boy with the life-sized Spider-Man wouldnât need permission to enter a room and the fact that I ignored him definitely wouldnât have stopped him.
âThought we agreed to never just walk away from each other,â he said before taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
I let my eyes flutter open as I looked at him. âYouâre being an idiot,â I said quietly.
He shrugged. âMaybe, but Iâd rather you stick around and tell me that than just lock yourself in our room.â
âThe door was unlocked,â I muttered half-heartedly.
He sighed. âCome on, Mia. Whatâs on your mind?â
âI just want you to pick somewhere! You were so adamant about finding a new place, which I think is ridiculous because we have this place and itâs great and lovely and close to Harry and Niall and even Zayn and Perrie now, so I donât understand why you want to move when Iâm just getting completely settled. But itâs fine, I get it. You have ADD or something and canât keep your focus in one place for too long, and you have the money so why not, right? Itâs fine. Thatâs all fine. But Iâm tired and itâs like youâre resisting the whole idea, so I donât know why we keep bothering.â
Louis smiled. âYou could have just said that, you know.â
I reached out and smacked his arm before sitting up fully. âDo you want to move, Lou? Like, honestly.â
He shrugged. âA piece of me does.â
I could sense it coming, so I finished for him. âButâŚ?â
âBut I also really love this place. I mean, itâs ours. Like, the first thing we can call ours. I love that. I thought I wanted to move but then we started looking at places and I know those would be ours too, but this is ours and we have memories here. Itâs only been two months and I still feel like we have some of the most important memories here and I donât want to lose them.â
Well that was enough for me. I reached out and wrapped my arms around his neck before kissing him, hard and soft and slow and fast, all at once. I nipped at his bottom lip, because he was an idiot, and then ran my tongue over the spot as gentle as I could, because he was mine. âYouâre so bloody impossible,â I said, a little breathless when we pulled back, and pressed my forehead against his.
He grinned. ââS why you love me though, yeah?â
And yeah, it was.
âSo we donât have to move?â he asked me.
I laughed and shook my head before pulling him back down against the mattress and curling my body against his. âNo, we donât have to move. Letâs stay here. Right here.â He hummed in agreement, and that was enough.
