Wip Wednesday!
The amazing @galexibrain has shared a piece of brilliance from their wip and I loved it.
I've decided I want to share a little something as well. This is also from Post Cell, the very beginning of the eight year gap during which Vegata and Bulma somehow get together in spite of the clear emotional distance between them during the Androids and Cell sagas.
Vegeta tried to avoid the crowd when they'd all gathered to say goodbye to Future Trunks. He'd rather not be there at all, but there was no telling what kind of problems might arise with that time machine. It was how Cell had arrived in their timeline after all. No one dared to go near the prince and he was left alone under the tree he rested against. His body had healed, but his mind was more troubled than he would have liked. He was thankful that the boy didn't try to approach him to say goodbye. The short greeting between them was more than enough and it added to the turmoil in his head. He'd always avoided attachments, so why was it so difficult to do now? After the time machine disappeared, the Z-fighters talked a little before they took off, some together and some alone. To Vegeta’s dismay, the weakling didn't leave, but went into the house with Bulma's parents. Hopefully, he wasn't planning to move in again. The woman wouldn't allow that, would she? She waited until the rest had gone inside before she approached him, head held high and her steps steadfast. Any man would cower at the sight of her determination, but Vegeta wasn't just any man. When she was right in front of him, she raised her hand, showing him what she was holding: A capsule. “This contains the spaceship with the gravity chamber that you've been using. The bots are there and the ship is stocked with provisions as well as fuel to last up to a year in space. I do not expect to have it back.” She handed him the capsule and he reluctantly took it, eyeing her with suspicion. She was giving him the chance to leave this cursed planet. Not only that; she never even expected him to stay at all. He'd counted on her asking him to stay. At least, he'd thought that she would oppose letting him take the spaceship. But instead she simply gave him the way out he'd thought he wanted, practically pushing him out the figurative door.
Remember to check out the wip from @galexibrain.
