"There's a package for you," Steve hears as steps into the Compound living room. He looks up from his tablet.
Vision stares at him unblinkingly. ...It's a work in progress.
"Uh, thank you," he says, walking over to the nondescript box sitting on the counter Vision had indicated at with a small gesture. "Does it say who it's from?"
"No."
"Alright."
He takes it back to his room to open it.
Inside is a large, incredibly hideous, 'Captain America' themed dildo. And a printed note.
'For when you get bored without me around. Don't work too hard.'

Vision gradually entered Wanda's room after knocking a couple of times and receiving no response. He found her lying on the floor staring at the ceiling. He waited a moment, to give her time to chase him away if she wanted, but when she said nothing he sat on the edge of her bed.
"Wanda ... we shouldn't have celebrated if you didn't feel like it"
It had been her first birthday without Pietro, but she had nevertheless accepted Natasha's proposal to have a little party between them, believing she could get a little distracted by the thought that this would be just the first of a long series of birthdays alone . For a moment it seemed like the best idea, it seemed like a good day, until the cake arrived, when Wanda couldn't resist anymore, and she fled to her room whispering "Sorry ... I can't". Vision had followed immediately
"No ... I thought I could do it Vizh ... I really thought so ... I thought I was better ... it's been almost a year since ..." She stopped, unable to finish the sentence.
"Wanda, you don't have to give a deadline to what you feel, there will always be events like that that can bring back the pain, it's not wrong"
Wanda sniffed as Vision stood up to get a better look at her
"Wanda, why are you lying on the floor?"
"I don't know ... in the movies they always do ...it seems to make them feel better"
"And it works?"
Wanda almost laughed wiping a tear "No ... not yet ... I know it's ridiculous.. I'm waiting for it to work"
Vision smiled softly at her and lay down on the ground on the opposite side so that their faces were close
"Vizh what are you..."
"I'm waiting for it to work"
Wanda reached out to caress his face whispering "Thanks Vision"

Why I'm Reccing: Ah, it's another lyra_wing fic. This one...this one is really really very good. But in, like, very subtle ways. It's another top tier fic.
It's a post AOU fic, where Steve is at the compound with all the other (new) Avengers, and Tony is back at the tower being Tony Stark, as opposed to Iron Man. This is, I think, in a lot of ways, one of the best AOU follow-ups I have seen, far better than canon. This feels right, like, yes, this is exactly what the team dynamics would have been like in a post AOU world.
This fic has some really good character interaction between Steve and Sam and Natasha and Clint and even Rhodey. There is an excellent scene between Steve and Rhodey that I enjoyed immensely, maybe in part because we rarely get Steve-Rhodey interactions that aren't centered around his relationship with Tony, but also because it's just so fun, and funny (it made me laugh out loud) and because it's just simply a feel good.
Okay, so Steve and Tony aren't even in the same location for the bulk of this fic. Almost all of their interactions take place via packages sent through the mail and conversations on the phone. But what reading this fic back reiterated to me was that it's possible to show a ton about who a character is, and how they feel about other characters, with very few words and actions. This is another amazing example of show don't tell, and it comes down to these very subtle details throughout the text.
Take this example here:
âIf youâre trying to make a point that we canât do this without you, then fine, yes, Iâd like you to be here,â said Steve. âYou make the team better, but youâre the one that decided toââ
âIâm notâthat wasnâtââ Tony sounded closer now, like he had picked up the phone and taken it off speaker. He blew a breath through his teeth, making a whoosh over the line.
Or this example here:
âWhat makes you think Iâm not being serious?â Tonyâs voice had changed again, gone soft, and it sounded like his mouth was pressed right against Steveâs ear, and Steve was having trouble keeping up with the number of turns this conversation was taking. Tony laughed a little bit, mostly to himself, but Steve felt it, like Tony had hotwired his mouth to Steveâs body, and Steve was not going to fixate on that mental image. âYou know, itâs weird, sometimes I thinkâŚâ
âYou thinkâŚ?â Steveâs ear felt hot where it was pressed against the phone, and his pulse was jumping in this throat, out of his control.
âNo, nothing.â Tonyâs tone turned chipper again, and it was like the last minute hadnât even happened.
Okay, so, it's another idiots-in-love mutual pining type situation where literally everyone else sees how these two feel about each other and are all just waiting (semi) patiently for them to clue in themselves and do something about it.
And then...there's Wanda. Wanda, who has some insight into what exactly is going on with Tony and Steve that the others don't (because of the hex scene in AOU), and she is the one that finally gets through to Steve and enables him to see all of Tony, instead of just the mask that Tony puts on.
This fic is humorous and fun, but also tense and....sad? Like...it makes me feel sad for Tony. Because Tony is suffering in silence. And you, as the reader, can feel his loneliness and pain.
The characterizations are on point. The ending is...not a straight happy ending, but hopeful? I don't know, to me it just feels like the best and most accurate depiction of Steve and Tony's relationship post AOU. It's angst with a silver lining, and it feels very very real.
Hey I just wanted to tell you that your writing is really great. I love reading your fics. You are doing a really great job and I hope you continue and enjoy writing as much as we all enjoy reading. I was wondering if you still take requests because I think that the song Remedy be Adele would maybe fit wanda and vision between cacw and iw really good. Thank you for your time. I'm off now re-reading all you fics. Have a great day :)
hello anon! gosh this has taken me a while, I hope you don't mind :) I really loved your song prompt and I hope you like the direction I have gone with it (though it is more post AoU than post CW sorry :')

Wanda comes back injured from a mission and Vision has to come to terms with her mortality, and the limits of their relationship. Tender touching and the intimacy of tending to wounds.
Ten minutes into his pacing Vision grew worried that he might wear down the carpet. Instead, he rose a foot off the air and took to floating back and forth before the third-floor windows. It was the perfect vantage point to watch the empty drive leading from the gate to the compoundâs front door.
Ten minutes quickly lapsed into half an hour, yet he had still heard no update from his teammates since the foreboding message which marked a start to his anxious pacing.
Everything went well. ETA 1 hr â stopping at hospital first.
Vision had sent something back along the lines of â if everything is okay then why the hospital? But was yet to receive a reply. The compound was equipped with a certified med bay extensive enough for most simple injuries, for Steve, Nat, Sam and Wanda to stop at a hospital meant they thought it something beyond their capabilities.
An ounce of the tension in his shoulder dissipated as he watched the front gate slowly open, and the hulking SUV begin down the drive.
Vision reached the driveway below just as the car pulled up beside the front door. From what he could see, the team looked to be in good spirits. There were smiles all round despite the soot across their faces and some general wear and tear.
âIs everything alright?â Vision demanded as Steve reached the door.
âAll fine, just a little more fire power than we were expecting.â
âWho was hurt?â
Steve opened his mouth to speak, then glanced over his shoulder. âWanda.â
Vision started forward but Steve placed a steadying hand on his shoulder. âEasy,â he said quietly, âdonât smother her, all things considered, it wasnât too serious.â
Vision held Steveâs gaze a moment longer before shrugging the captainâs hand off and heading for Wandaâs side of the car. She was being helped out by Nat which Vision quickly saw was owing to the white cotton sling tied around Wandaâs neck.
When Natasha had Wanda steady on her feet she let go and left them alone, giving Vision an all too knowing look as she passed. He held his arm out for Wanda to hold as she started towards the front steps, but she ignored it.
âIâm fine.â
âYes, a hospital trip is absolutely fine.â It was a challenge to keep the sarcasm from his tone.
âDonât,â Wanda said holding a hand up and Vision wisely stayed a step behind her.
A few moments of silence later and Vision felt he were able to ask her properly. âAre you okay?â
âI am.â There was an earnestness to her voice that he couldnât help believing. âIt was just a bit of a burn and Cap was worried about treating it ourselves, because of scarring and stuffâŚâ Wanda trailed off as she turned away from Vision.
So, it wasnât quite as bad as he had feared but it scared him nonetheless. These sorts of accidents hadnât been uncommon in the year since he had joined the Avengers. But the fear, no matter how synthetic, never failed to unnerve him. His teammates readily accepting such risks to their fragile human bodies was even more scary. For Wanda especially, he always worried. Not because she couldnât handle herself, Vision had seen and experienced her force firsthand. Rather, he dreaded the idea of anything bad happening to her. Vision had first been confronted with her mortality as heâd watched her suspended in mid-air, her city hurtling to the ground. It was an image that had often occupied his thoughts since.
Vision hadnât noticed the takeout that Sam had retrieved from the back of the car, so he was surprised to see the full meal set out on the table when they arrived upstairs. He frowned with concern noticing just how much slower Wandaâs steps were as she took her seat at the dining table.
Vision sat next to her, taking the glass of water that Sam passed down to him and onto Wanda. Next came a plate loaded with three different kinds of pasta dishes which he set in front of Wanda.
He watched as she stabbed a few pieces of pasta onto her fork, turning purposefully to him and pointedly shovelling it into her mouth. Vision looked away sheepishly, practically hearing her satisfied smile as he did. Donât smother her, he reminded himself.
He stayed quiet throughout dinner, half listening to the team recounting their mission, only really paying attention when they described Wandaâs injury. He was grateful to hear that the burns werenât bad, though he noticed Wandaâs barely concealed winces when she bumped her arm against the table every now and then.
After dinner they all migrated to the television, a regular routine when it was just the five of them in the compound. Vision leant against the living room wall, his eyes flickering between the last light of the sunset which was casting the sky in shades of violet, and Wanda, who had settled into the couch for the evening news.
Steve had said that the doctors hadnât seen the need to prescribe any pain medications for Wanda besides simple aspirin and Vision knew that Wanda had a higher pain tolerance than most. It didnât mean she should deal with the pain though â so he set about researching the best options for helping with burn pain.
The evening continued on smoothly though Visionâs mind was far from the television that occupied his friends. It was always like this when someone get hurt, everyone acted like it was normal even as they all harboured secret concerns â he saw how everyoneâs eyes followed Wanda as she moved to the kitchen for tea.
âYou donât need to hover, Vis,â Wanda said, not looking over her shoulder but having heard him follow her.
âIââ he meant to say he wasnât hovering, but that would be something of a lie. Wanda smiled and raised her eyebrows as he leant against the kitchen island, the kettle boiling noisily about them. âIâm sorry, I was just worried.â
âItâs alright, thank you for worrying about me,â Wanda said pouring the water, keeping her sling carefully out of the way, âbut I promise, I am fine.â
He didnât reply, following her back to the living room and allowing himself to sit when she indicated he should join her on the couch.
Vision was pulled from his mind, and the rabbit hole he had fallen down regarding burn rehabilitation, when Wanda yawned and stretched gracefully beside him.
âIâm off to bed,â she said to the others, getting to her feet and waving good night to them over her shoulder. There were noncommittal murmurs of âgoodnightâ in return from Steve and Sam, Natasha had since gone to bed herself. Todayâs mission had worn them all out more than usual.
Vision shifted in his seat, fingers tapping nervously against his knee. He lasted a minute and a half before getting to his feet and following Wanda off down the corridor. Her bedroom door was closed. They had something of an open-door policy at the compound â if your bedroom door was open, you were open to company, if not â wellâŚ
He resumed his pacing from that afternoon, walking up and down the corridor outside Wandaâs room and weighing up his options. He could risk irritating her further by knocking on the door to see if she wanted company, or he could trust that she was okay as she claimed and go to his own room.
He had just resolved to return to his own quarters when she called his name from behind the shut door. Without hesitating, Vision phased through the wall, arriving swiftly in her bedroom, a space he was more familiar with than his own room.
What he saw before him had heat crawling up his neck and sent him spinning around. âOh gosh, Iâm sorry I thought you said my nameââ
He tried to rid the image that was currently burned into his mind, even as his heart beat wildly in his ears.
âNo, I did call you,â Wanda said, he heard the sound of her struggling, âI need help.â
When Vision didnât make to move from where he was, Wanda spoke again. âVision you can look, itâs not that big a deal.â
Vision swallowed, turning around but keeping his eyes on the floor, nonetheless. When he finally looked up, he was able to confirm what he had seen upon entering her room. Wanda was â well she was stuck. Her slinged arm was raised above her head, caught on the edge of her top as she had seemingly tried to struggle out of her clothes.
âI think,â Vision said, speaking quietly, âthat youâre supposed to undo the sling before you change.â
âYes, well,â Wanda huffed, âI only have two hands and one of them I canât use.â
Vision glanced up to her face, refusing to acknowledge her mostly bare torso, the slope of her back, her waist, her chest.
âA little help, please?â
âOh â of course!â Vision said starting forward, unsure where to begin. Wanda watched him approach and turned, nodding her head to the knot tied at the back of her neck.
Delicately, Vision untied the knot, letting her injured arm free of its sling, his eyes firmly focused on not looking below her shoulders. Wanda turned around to him and he held his hands out to help lift the top off, waiting for her invitation before he touched her.
âGo on,â she raised her arms to the best of her ability, the top hiking higher up her ribs as she did.
Vision pulled her top over her bandaged upper arm, freeing it from the thin material before doing the same on the other arm. With the utmost care, and desperately trying not to think about the tense quiet between them, Vision laid his hands on the hem of the top, pulling it up and over her head. He let the top fall onto the bed, unable to keep his eyes away from her as she shook her hair out of her face.
Vision started and quickly turned around again, the intimacy sending his eyes back to a spot on the wall which he bore into intently. He listened to the rustling of fabric as Wanda pulled a sweater over her head. When she was done, she tapped his shoulder, her other hand extending the sling for him to support her arm with again.
Vision leant in, looping the fabric around her shoulder, taking care to not jostle her wounded arm.
âDo you not fear getting hurt?â He asked hesitantly, his chin brushing against her forehead as he finished the loose knot.
âOf course I do,â Wanda murmured back, her eyes closed contently as Vision pulled back a little and set about readjusting the fabric to make it more comfortable.
âHow do you manage it?â Vision asked. âThe fear.â
âI donât.â Wandaâs reply was a harsh confession that had Visionâs own heart clenching empathetically.
He finished with the sling, gently brushing her hair over her shoulder. âHow do I manage it?â He hadnât really meant to speak it aloud, but it was an honest question. He wasnât sure how long Wanda would still want to be around him if he hovered like this every time she got the smallest injury. Vision would do anything not to jeopardise their current relationship, this thing that was something and wasnât at the same time. Anything to reinforce the line between friendship and whatever was on the other side that they both seemed intent on keeping to.
âWe manage it together,â Wanda said softly, shrugging with her good shoulder. âWe take it one day at a time, one accident at a time and we help each other.â
Vision smiled at her, reaching out to cradle her hand gently. âI suppose we can manage that.â

Does anyone know of any fics that explore Tony's and Thor's relationship after Ultron? Could be a general Tony/Team fic or just the two of them.
Because the movie - surprise, surprise - just glossed over the fact that Thor literally lifted Tony up by his throat and choked him, so yeah... not a fan of that.
Just imagine Tony flinching every time Thor comes close and Thor eventually realizing why.
Wanda finding out about Obie and how Tony was screwed over by the same man responsible for actually selling those weapons to bad people - and then chaning her opinion about Tony fundamentally and trying to bond with Tony? Or maybe taking his side in arguments more often and such?
Okay, itâs a slightly different direction than you asked for, but I hope you enjoy it!
Itâs not that Wanda wakes up one morning and magically decides to change her opinion on the matter of Tony Stark.
Itâs more that she magically doesnât wake up one morning and then proceeds to change her opinion on the matter of Tony Stark. Nobody has to know that it takes her around twenty-three years because Wanda can be stubborn like the best of them and doesnât let grudges go easily.
Still. After those twenty-three years â You slept through the entire day and wouldnât wake up, Wanda, are you sure that everythingâs alright? â itâs kind of surprisingly hard to not look at Tony Stark differently.
Which is probably the point of the whole exercise. Wanda canât imagine anyone has mind-magic-ed her to be stuck at Tony Starkâs side from ages 3 to 25 and have to live through it all, in real time, unable to interact with her surroundings besides watching Tony fucking Stark, without intending for her to change her opinion of him.
To be fair, itâs a pretty good plan. Wanda dares anyone to have to watch a tiny Tony kid sit for two hours in front of his fatherâs office, waiting for the guy to finish an important business call, only to be berated and insulted and have his inventions destroyed. Every day. For six fucking years.
Wanda doesnât like to think about the fact that she might feel a little bad for Tony. Luckily, imagining the various tortures sheâd like to put Howard Stark through proves to be sufficiently distracting.
Still, when Wanda finally, finally wakes up in her own bed, in her own body again, she tries very hard not to let her little adventure affect her behaviour. She spends some time checking various facts first, just to be sure, but mind magic is the one thing she actually excels at, so itâs no surprise to find out that everything she saw is likely at the very least a genuine replica of the truth.
That doesnât have to change anything, of course. Tony Stark still manufactured weaponsâmanufactures, if you count the Iron Man stuff, which you probably should. Tony Stark still created Ultron. Most importantly, Tony Stark is still such an impossible, smart-mouthed asshole every time they run into each other.
And yet. Turns out not letting that stupid mind-fuck influence you is harder than youâd think â and yes, Wanda is aware of the irony, can even appreciate it on a good day â because now she just knows Tony Stark too well.
She knows that heâs being purposefully evasive when Steve absently asks about Pepper. She knows he gestures so much during the meeting to hide the trembling in his hands. She knows thereâs real hurt being covered by the flippant âWhatever you say, Captainâ.
Even worse, she notices things. Like the way Tony Stark (because itâs never Stark these days, and Wanda tries not to read too much into that) doesnât bother to explain his actions during a fight because Steve wonât let him get a word in during his rant anyways. Or the way Tony Stark sometimes watches them practice for hours to figure out what sort of improvement their equipment needs, but never comes up to any of them and straight up asks.
But the thing that changes her the most, changes them the most, is something more subtle. Something that Wanda doesnât even realise has changed, until theyâre in an other debriefing, discussing the proper ways to handle oversized jack russell terriers with laser eyes with the gravity usually reserved for national security â which it concerns.
Because Tony, whoâs been distractedly playing with his phone for most of the meeting, the way he always does when a mission made him uncomfortable and jittery, finally speaks up.Â
Wanda is only paying attention with half an ear at this point â seriously, theyâve been stuck in this tin can for two hours and she wants a damn shower â when she realises that Steve is getting angry again. Which he often does, when he feels like Tony doesnât take things seriously enough. Itâs just confusing because Tony spent the past ten minutes detailing a way to cut down on the underground laboratories responsible for all the crazy, mutated animals theyâve had to face for the past fourâ
Wanda chances a look around. Clintâs mouth is curved into a displeased frown. Natashaâs face is blank. Thor stopped paying attention an hour ago, not that anyone can blame him. But itâs still puzzling, considering Tony is mostly just spinning Steveâs suggestion into a convoluted plan that might actually make it past the senateâŚ
Oh. Just like that Wanda gets it. Really gets it.
Because she understands Tony. Sheâs spent what felt like twenty three years by his side, listening to his rambling. First to fill the silence of a lonely mansion, later in his endless chats with DUM-E, U and BUTTERFINGERS, eventually drawn out conversations with JARVIS.
Wanda has become so used to filtering through the endless amount of words Tony always arms him himself with, to shrug off the insensitive bullshit, the deflections and insults he uses to distract from everything else he shares so openly about himself â sheâs gotten so used to it, Wanda has forgotten that she couldnât always do that. That she didnât always understand Tony, didnât always see through his bullshit and hear what he intends to say instead of what he actually says.
Itâs taken her fifteen years to get a grip on it, she really canât blame the others for not having managed it yet.
âThat could work,â she agrees calmly before Steve gets all huffy because he hasnât figured out yet that Tony actually agrees with him â and really, how is this her life? â and while everyone is too busy gaping at her in shock, she continues Tonyâs argument in a language other people understand.
Itâs not a position she ever saw herself filling one day â and she still doesnât like Tony, thank you very much â but someone has to do it, or this meeting is never going to end.
And Wanda really wants that shower.
(Tony smiles brightly by the end of it, which is a rarity in itself, and surprisingly Wanda finds that she doesnât mind as much as she thought she would. Sheâs still gonna figure out who put her through twenty three years of involuntary stalking though.)
Vision entered the compound living room and found it empty with all the lights out, when suddenly the whole team jumped out, led by Wanda holding a cake, yelling "Happy birthday!"
"Wait, what is this?" Vision said surprised, pointing the cake into the girl's hands
"I know you don't eat Vizh" Wanda smiled "But it can't stop you from having a birthday cake"
"Oh, but is it for me?" he said even more surprised "I ... I didn't expect it"
"That's the concept of a surprise party, that the birthday boy is surprised," Tony yelled
"Well I'm very surprised," laughed Vision
"Come on, make a wish," Sam said
"I ..I.. don't ..." stammered Vision embarrassed, then looked at Wanda and she smiled at him in the sweetest way he had ever seen
"You just have to blow the candle, and think of a wish" she said "And absolutely don't tell anyone what it is, otherwise it won't come true" she laughed
Vision smiled back and blew the candle.
---------------------
Only one night, many years later, lying in bed with Wanda in his arms, he whispered "Do you remember my first birthday?"
"Yes, i do"
"I remember your smile, you were so beautiful and bright ... I could not help but wish that every birthday was accompanied by your smile, because it would have been the best birthday present I could ask for"
