This is the reason why possession is considered to be nine points in the law. A well-accepted legal implication of possession is that it creates ownership by prescription in favour of the person who has the possession.
Possession certificate is also known as the possession letter and it is considered to be a formal document having great legal importance. The certificate of possession is usually issued by a tehsildar in the rural areas and by the Revenue Officers in urban areas. Once the certificate is issued it mentions that the possession lies with the particular person and the timeline within which he has to make the final payments to the seller. It is also considered to be a proof of the fact that the property has been transferred in possession of a person without any illegal means and at the same time conveys the intention of the buyer to purchase the property.
