What causes virus false positives?
I was installing a program on my grandparents computer called winebase. It is a program to create an index of their wine cellar.
Anyway, I copied the program folder from an email the dev had sent them for windows 10 use. Windows defender told me it was "Neshta.C" a very dangerous virus. We looked on the winebase website and it said the program is mistaken as a false positive by some antivirus. I ran it through "Virus Total" website and found it to be safe.
What caused it to be mistaken for a very specific virus?
