Now summer is reaching its zenith, here’s a painting made a while ago celebrating Nature’s Largess, entitled: "Cupid and Psyche - The Wedding Banquet," inspired by the myth of Cupid and Psyche, first recorded in Apuleius’ “Metamorphoses” (2nd century A.D.) The story of their Love prevailing over Aphrodite’s attempts to thwart it, sends a message of hope when, in the end, Psyche is transformed into an immortal, and is properly wed to the young god of desire, Cupid. At a Feast of the Gods, the union of Cupid and Psyche is celebrated. This painting shows the lovers together, where Cupid offers Psyche a dandelion as a delicacy, amongst other vegetarian delights.
