“What’s up with Saeran today?” MC asked Yoosung. They werein the kitchen, both getting something to drink.

“What do you mean?” Yoosung tried to evade thequestion. He was not good at hiding things.

MC cocked her eyebrow and pulled him back when hetried to walk away. “Oh no you don’t, you know what’s going on, spill.”

“It’s…it’s not for me to say…” he looked down andaway.

“Does it have something to do with me?” she asked,worried that she had done something to upset Saeran.

Yoosung shrugged noncommittedly.

“Did I do something?” she asked.

His head snapped up, “Oh, no, no, it isn’t anything likethat, honest. Just…ahhh…just, ask him. Ok? I’ll go keep Saeyoung company whileyou two talk.” He kissed her cheek and walked away.

MC set her glass down and headed to the back yardwhere Saeran sat on one of the wicker benches, knees under his chin, armswrapped around his legs. He spent most of his time outside. She sat next tohim. He didn’t move, just kept watching the lazy clouds move across the sky.

“Hey.” She said.

He turned his head towards her, laying his cheek onhis knees. “Hey.” He replied.

“Is there…something you need to tell me?” she askedhesitantly.

He dropped his legs and turned towards her. A questioninglook on his face.

“It’s just, well, it seems like you’ve been avoidingme lately. Have I done something I shouldn’t have?” she lowered her head,afraid of what he might say.

He reached out to her, grasping her hands in his. “No,of course not! You’ve been nothing but kind to me. I’m not sure Saeyoung and I couldhave gotten through everything without you. And, well, if you hadn’t pushed meto admit my feelings for Yoosung, I would probably still be pining away forhim.” He laughed lightheartedly.

“Then what is it?”

“I…I don’t deserve your kindness.” This time it wasSaeran who lowered his head, he felt ashamed.

“What are you talking about?” she prodded, not lettinghim release her hands.

“After everything I put you through. I set you up inthat apartment and tried to use you to hurt the RFA. When that didn’t work, Itried to kidnap you and force you to join Magenta. I can never atone for thoseactions. You are such a kind and sweet and giving person. You didn’t deserve tobe used. How can you stand to even look at me?” His tone was crushing to MC’sheart. He was in pain, even now, after all this time, and after everything thatthey had become to each other, he still felt guilt about the beginning.

She enfolded him into her arms. “Sometimes you can beas much of an idiot as your brother, you know that?”

“You don’t have to be cruel.” he pouted, his faceburied in her shoulder. But he grasped her around the waist and held on likehis life depended on it. She laughed into his hair.

“I know what your intentions were then Saeran. Butthey are not the same now, and you were a different person, someone whose lifehad been stolen. You weren’t in your right mind. Even so, how can I hate youwhen you made it possible for me to meet Saeyoung? Had it not been for you, wewouldn’t have the family we have now. You would still be with Mint Eye, tryingto undermine the RFA. Saeyoung would still be stuck in a nightmare of his ownmaking. And Yoosung, well, Yoosung would still be lamenting the fact that hedoesn’t have a girlfriend and may never have known that his true mate didn’thave breasts.” That got a guffaw from Saeran who pulled away from her, tearsstill in his eyes.

“Do you really forgive me?” he asked, emotion drippingwith every word.

“Of course I do! I did as soon as I knew you were Saeyoung’sbrother. You’re my family and I love you! Please don’t ever feel guilty aboutthe way things happened. What we have gone through has brought us to thispoint. And I happen to love this point. Saeyoung, you, and Yoosung, not tomention the RFA. You are valued by us all! Of course, I think Jaehee just wantsto study you, but, there is value in that!” she smiled and Saeran returned it.

“Yeah, she texts me every once in a while, and triesto get me to transform for her. Maybe I’ll do it, just to get her to stop.” He grinnedthe hugged MC tight.

“I love you MC.” MC was surprised by the expression,he had never said anything like that to her, or Saeyoung, not like this. He pulledaway quickly and stood up, mumbling something about Yoosung. He headed backinto the house, leaving her stunned.
