just wanted to say I really enjoy seeing your work. Now for the question part of things- what happens if a gem s/o poofs or if Spinel poofs? how do you think either would react?- also, thank you for simply existing and spoiling us with your work!
Aww, thank you! I’m glad you like my writing! I hope you enjoy this, too!
It was for a silly reason, really. You hadn’t gotten into a fight, you weren’t sparring or anything. You and Spinel were just playing around in the kindergarten, climbing various rocks and cliffs. Spinel was a really good climber, but you were determined. You wanted to impress her somehow. So you did something stupid, you climbed on of the injectors that still clung onto the cliffside. It looked sturdy enough to you.
“Hey Spinel! Check it out!”
The pink gem was nearby, climbing the different holes in the cliff. She sat in one, glancing up at you when a nervous look came over her face.
“Whatcha think you’re doing? Be careful!”
You huffed, crossing your arms.
“I’m fine, this thing isn’t about to go anywh-”
It was then the injector shuddered under your feet and you were falling. You heard Spinel shout for you and you had enough to think this wasn’t a very good idea before you poofed.
Spinel was on the ground in an instant, searching the pile of broken glass and torn metal with tears already bubbling up in her eyes. She let out the biggest sigh of relief when she found it, snatching it up with shaking hands and backing away from the wreckage faster than what was probably necessary.
Her back hit the cliff and she slid down it till she was sitting, your gem clutched tightly in her hands. She took a deep breath in, held it and slowly let it out, calming the panic in her chest. It all had happened very suddenly and left her shaking. She looked over your gem carefully, being sure to be very gentle. She gave another sigh when she saw no scratches, chips, or cracks. You were okay. She sank a little with relief, clutching your gem close to hers.
Spinel was hit with just how quiet it was. She hoped you wouldn’t take too terribly long.
Spinel went about the next day or two as normal as she could without you around. It really was quiet, boring even. She held your gem the whole time, refusing to put you down even once. She needed that reassurance that you would come back, that you were okay, that this wouldn’t last for long. Still, her gem ached every time she thought about you.
You came back on the second day. It was the dead of night. Spinel sat on the beach, trying to drown out the silence with the crash of the waves. Then, suddenly, your gem began to glow, a bright star in the darkness. She felt her heart swell at the sight and couldn’t stop herself from tackling you the moment you reformed, the two of you falling into the sand. Spinel laughed, holding you tight, the tears seeping out of her eyes.
You blinked for a second, then smiled and hugged her back, nuzzling into her neck.
She snorted, burying her face into your hair.
“Next time you should listen to me, huh?”
You laughed, shaking your head.
