Hey everyone! I wanted to start by saying thank you so much for 700 followers! That’s absolutely incredible, you’re all so amazing!

I also wanted to apologize. I messed up my story today and accidentally answered the wrong ask and in my attempt to fix that, I accidentally deleted the story. That’s just the kind of day I’ve been having. I’m really sorry about that!

Finally, I’m afraid I’ve run into a terrible, terrible problem. I’ve kind of been hyperfixated on Spinel and writing my stories here for a while, but it looks like that fixation may be gone now. I don’t want to say I’m abandoning this blog or anything. I still want to write these stories. However, I may not update freaquently at all. It could be days between stories, it could be months. I don’t know. 

I may also not answer ever ask I’ve gotten. I still have so many of them, I know, but if it doesn’t interest me I won’t be able to write a proper story for it. I don’t want to have to force myself through some of them and make myself hate writing because of it.

You had a lot of trouble falling asleep that night. Everything felt wrong. The air was too hot, the blankets were too heavy or not heavy enough, your heart wouldn’t stop pounding and your mind wouldn’t stop racing. You couldn’t stop thinking.

You had heard from the news and friends that people had started being murdered in their own homes. At first, you didn’t consider it much. Of course, it was sad to think that someone died. You could only imagine how much their families and friends were struggling with their losses.But still, it didn’t really affect you. You just made extra sure to lock the apartment door and windows before going to sleep. But then Steven got in contact with you. As it turns out, a group of gems were behind the murders and he was worried that you might be targeted.

That definitely made it harder to sleep at night. It wasn’t like any lock would stop some gems from getting at you. 

Spinel didn’t like that one bit. When she found out she insisted that she stay with you each night, just until the gems had been caught. You weren’t about to say no to any sort of extra protection. You trusted Spinel more than any else.

Did that make falling asleep any easier? No, but you did eventually fall asleep, knowing that Spinel was in the next room and if anything happened she would protect you. You would be fine.

Spinel didn’t like that this was something she had to do. She didn’t like that she had to keep guard all night, making sure nothing happened to you. What were these gems problem, anyways? What had humans ever done to them? Or was it just all fun and games to them.

She jumped off the couching and went to pacing about instead, trying to distract herself. She didn’t want to think about all that. She just wanted to make sure she kept you safe.

The apartment stayed silent, the only sound the squeak of her shoes as she paced from one room to the other and back. She froze when she heard a thud nearby. Something had fallen in the kitchen. Or had it been knocked over? She went to investigate, a knot forming in her gut. She hoped it was nothing.

The lights flashed on, far too bright after the dark. She blinked at the room but didn’t see anything out of place. Everything seemed normal. Her eyes narrowed with suspicion and she took a few steps forward.

She heard the movement, spinning around just in time to see a gem, a big quartz, aiming a punch at her. She managed to dodge, the fist hitting nothing but air. The quartz growled at her and swung again and again. Spinel dodged each attack, thinking. She didn’t have time to stick around and fight this gem. She needed to get to you!

But she had gotten lucky. For some reason, this gem decided to ambush her in the kitchen. Clearly they didn’t know much about humans, otherwise, they would have known just how many knives were in the kitchen. 

The two stared at each other for a moment, the gem sizing her up, smirking. This pink gem was fast but she didn’t look to be much of a fighter. It wouldn’t be long before she could go back and enjoy the fun.

She lunged forward again but this time Spinel didn’t move away or attempt to dodge. She stood her ground and when the gem was close enough, she thrust the knife she had grabbed right into their stomach. They had a look of surprise for only a moment before evaporating into a cloud, their gem falling to the ground.

Spinel didn’t hang around. Steven said there was more than one gem and you were still alone. She was at your bedroom door in an instant but it was already open a crack. All she could feel was panic, bubbling up from her chest and taking over her mind like rising waters. She couldn’t even think properly as she pushed open the door to see her worst fears come to life before her.

There were three other gems in the room, all looking up at her when the door opened. One looked confused, the other irritated, while the last didn’t seem to care at all. But Spinel wasn’t focused on them. She was focused on you, trapped by one of their hands on your upper arm, clawing at it desperately, tears streaming down your face. It mixed with the blood streaming down from a large cut. You were terrified.

She only looked away when the irritated gem holding you sneered. “Guess we gotta cut the fun short today.”

Spinel attempted to calm the shaking that had started to take over her form.

“Let them go.” She commanded, voice steady and threatening. The gem holding you only smirk.

“Alright tiny, whatever you say.”

She watched in horror as a dagger formed in her other hand only for it to disappear again into your stomach. You yelped in pain, clutching at your stomach the best you could, thick, dark blood, seeping through your fingers. You collapsed to the ground when you were finally let go, letting out a quiet whine of pain but incapable of moving.

Spinel was by your side in an instant, cradling you in her arms. She didn’t care about anything else, hardly noticed the other gems leaving. Her mind couldn’t work, couldn’t process what had happened or what she was seeing.

“Y-Y/N, are you okay?”

You shook your head, leaning into her. “It hurts…”

“I know, but it’ll be okay. Steven can fix it, right? We just need to get him is all.”

You knew he wouldn’t get here fast enough. You could already feel yourself growing weaker and weaker, but you weren’t going to tell her that. You just didn’t want to.

And you didn’t really have to. A part of Spinel knew you weren’t going to make it but she refused to acknowledge it. But stars, there was so much blood. It was everywhere. She tried to press down on the spot like you were in the vain attempt to slow the bleeding but it didn’t help. She was useless, couldn’t even let you go long enough to get the phone. She was panicking. This couldn’t be happening! She - she couldn’t lose you, not like this!

You closed your eyes. Each breath felt like a marathon. You were so tired. You could hardly feel the pain anymore. You just wanted to go to sleep.

Spinel didn’t let you go, not even when your chest stopped rising and your body grew cold. This wasn’t happening, it couldn’t be happening! She couldn’t believe that you were gone. But she couldn’t deny it forever.

And then she got angry. 

I was hoping to get my next story out today, but since it’s Father’s Day I plan on hanging with my dad instead of writing, but no worries! I’ll do my best to have it posted on Monday or Tuesday!

You make breakfast and give it to her in bed. You just spend some time cuddling and thinking about what it would be like to be a parent and how beautiful Spinel is.

Your mornings had changed. Not suddenly or all at once, but slowly over time. You started waking up earlier, groaning as your phone buzzed on the nightstand. You silenced it immediately, glancing over to Spinel who still slept soundly. You smiled to yourself, taking a moment to just look at her. She was so cute, her hair tousled from sleep, the blanket pulled close to her chest. You could have spent hours just watching her sleep. But you couldn’t. You sighed and rolled out of bed, getting ready quietly and leaving the room.

You had to make breakfast. You knew Spinel would probably be hungry when she woke up. You knew gems didn’t need to heat, but ever since Spinel had gotten pregnant she had started getting hungry more often. 

You stretched as you entered the kitchen and contemplated what to make. It was eggs and toast yesterday, so maybe pancakes today? No, french toast! You got the pans and ingredients out and got to work. They weren’t that hard to make, as far as breakfast goes. It just took a little to wait for the pan to heat up.

By the time you had finished and was taking the finished breakfast into the bedroom Spinel was still sleeping. You put the plate on the nightstand. There was no rush. She could eat it whenever she woke up. Carefully, you sat on the side of the bed, making sure you didn’t jostle her too much. You smiled to yourself, brushing the hair out of her face. 

She used to never sleep. Gems didn’t need to, after all. But then she made the decision to get have a baby. To have your baby. 

You had been concerned when she had first brought it up. You didn’t want her to leave you like Steven’s mom, but you talked it out. As long as she didn’t give the baby her gem then she would be fine and they would both be there for the baby. You still weren’t sure. It’s not like this sort of thing was common. But over time she managed to convince you that everything would be okay.

The idea was still odd to you. It had already been five months since she had gotten pregnant and you were still struggling to comprehend what that meant. You were going to be a parent! Had you been asked just a few years ago you would have said that you didn’t want any kids and never planned on having any. But it was with Spinel. She was different and you knew you’d be able to handle it as long as she was around. You just wanted her to be happy.

You were taken out of your thoughts when she stirred, blinking up at you groggily. You smiled at her.

“Good morning sweetheart.”

I think I miss living in Tennessee. I went to college in that state and have a lot of good memories there. I also really like Knoxville. Gay st was lots of fun to walk down and there was always something going on in four square.

I like crab legs. Not just crab but crab legs. I like working a little extra to get my food. It makes it more satisfying when I do get it! I think that’s why I don’t like corn but don’t mind corn on the cob.
