Hong Kong police attacked the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, again. 17 Nov 2019

Currently, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is under seige by the police. There is little to nothing people outside can do. 

In the very least, international help can come from 

Sign petitions to help punish the hk police - they have been abusing the power and making mass arrests to even journalists on the scene

Encourage termination of relations to university management. Many well-known universities across the globe has relations to PolyU. Tweet or Email them: 

“Please consider terminating your partnership with @HongKongPolyU. The management has done nothing to protect its students in the siege of 18Nov, and even retreated all campus security. Your students are not safe in their hands.” , or something of the like.

2 nappal a PolyU kiürítése után. A rendőrség az egyetemfoglalás első napján közölte, hogy mindenki, aki bent van, függetlenül attól, hogy követ-e el bármit, zavargás miatt lesz letartóztatva. Szóval a bent lévők közül mindenki elég motivált volt ezt minél jobban hátráltatni, így nagyon komoly, megbonthatatlan barikádok épültek. A rendőrség végül 12 nap után mégis felszámolta az egészet, konzervatív becslések szerint szerint is legalább 1100 embert letartóztatva, de eddigre az emberek már a csatornarendszeren keresztül is próbáltak elmenekülni. Nekem igazán itt volt átélhető, hogy miközben rengeteg legális és modern európai szemmel is felfogható demonstráció is zajlik, közben ezzel párhuzamosan rengeteg olyan aspektus is van (tömegek által vállalt kockázatok, a kilátástalanság miatt egyre erősebb radikalizáció), amit jellegében némileg 56-hoz lehetne viszonyítani.

Hogy Európában ha nem tetszik valami, akkor nem csak demonstrálni lehet, hanem polgári engedetlenségi eszközökhöz is folyamodni, és ha még bármi illegálisat csinálsz is, akkor is számíthatsz rá, hogy a törvény viszonylag kiszámítható lesz, és előre kalkulálható a büntetésed. Itt pedig nem. Itt ha letartóztatnak, akkor onnantól minden benne van a pakliban, és csak reménykedhetsz benne, hogy nem fogsz teljesen eltűnni valahol Kínában, hogy aztán a helyi rendőrség csak vonogassa a vállát, hogy ők nem tudják, a papírjaik szerint soha nem is tartóztattak le. Hogy itt békés demonstrációról hazamenet is előfordulhat, hogy megtámadnak a rendőrök és pépesre vernek miközben szétpaprikaspréznek, anélkül, hogy bármit csinálnál, vagy épp ellenkezőleg, egyszercsak elvonul az összes rendőr, és többtucatnyi maffiózó jelenik meg és veri végig a békés demonstrálókat. Hogy nincs semmilyen biztonsági garancia, nincs “legrosszabb esetben is az lesz, hogy”, hanem bármi benne lehet a pakliban. Azaz itt ezrek és tízezrek tényleg az életüket kockáztatják azért, hogy kiálljanak a jogaik csorbítása ellen, ami csak remélni tudom, hogy egyszer azon európai országok állampolgárai számára is inspiráció tud lenni, ahol lényegesen kisebb kockázatokat kell vállalni egy kiépülő autoriter rendszer elleni szembeszegüléssel...

Since the PolyU siege, some protesters found out ways to escape. Many got arrested. (More than 1,000 got arrested in the past few days.) When being asked did he feel disappointed that some people left, he said no. “As long as there is one person staying, we resist. Those people who escaped were worried about our lives, and that’s enough for me.”

The campus is surrounded by police with students and protesters trapped inside. Today is day two. Food will soon run out. 

On the 23rd of November I went to the demonstration Stand up With Hong Kong to take pictures and interview protesters. I feel that it is my obligation to go and support Hong Kong community in London. I wanted their voices to be heard. I wanted to highlight that protesters and students in HK are not alone and there are many people who support them across the world. I shared my stickers with demonstrators, I gave them a thumbs up and I blend into demonstration.

Hey my hometown is in desparate need of international support. Not sure if you have heard about the protests that have been happening in Hong Kong for the past half year. But for the past week the police have been taking brutal measures to try ‘disperse’ the protestors in different universities across the city (CUHK, CityU, HKU, BU, PolyU).

PolyU has been suffering from their vicious attacks/ambushes since this Sat. After almost 2 days, the police just announced to us that lethal weapons will be in use if the students do not leave the campus by 10pm HKT. But they have blocked all exits, and when some tried leaving via one of the exits, they immediately got arrested.

Worse of all, it's the management team of the uni who contacted the police - to try to massacre their own students. Weapons like tear gases, water cannon (with teargassed solvents), rubber bullets are used on the students. Video have been showing Special Tactical Squad (速龍小隊) armed with AR15 (loaded with live round) patrolling near the campus.

They are trying to shoot and kill.

30 years later, this is another Tiananmen Massacre.
