Polysaja Week Day 2: Mythological
(((I know I didn't get round to doing Day 1 but I will contribute where I can and I just got a good idea for this one so here it is.~
Sidenote: Jinu is a Mermaid, Abby is a Centaur, Romance is an Elf, Baby is a Harpie and Mystery is a Werewolf :> This is a very Jinu centered story Enjoy!~~~))
Jinu always knew things would be difficult with his boyfriends from the beginning; being completely different species wasn’t exactly common. He didn’t realise quite how hard it would be for the other four to hang out with him in his natural environment though. He being a mermaid was the only water dwelling of the five of them and though he often tried to make an effort to see them on dry land it was hard to spend much time with them out of the water as his tail would dry up too fast making his scales itchy and sore. Meaning he would just have to dwell in the shallows never really getting to cuddle up to them much.
Romance his elf boyfriend was never keen on water, only searching for the purest sources of water to drink from and bathe in. He would also hate getting his hair wet as it would get frizzy and tangled if not handled with care and dried correctly. He also wore expensive fancy looking clothes a lot and hated the idea of getting mud on them; mud which unfortunately lined the shallows of Jinu’s lake.
Mystery, his werewolf boyfriend, was much more willing to spend time in the water with him, whether it would be in the muddy shallows or the deeper parts of the lake he lived in. The only problem with that would be both Baby and Romance complaining about the smell of wet dog for hours afterwards and to be fair Jinu also was not too keen on the smell, he just enjoyed getting physical affection from one of his lovers.
Baby his harpy boyfriend was different to the other two, due to his arms being lined with feathers they would weigh him down when wet making it near impossible for him to swim. Jinu would offer to carry him through the water but he realised this would make the smaller boy feel embarrassed and unable to take care of himself so he didn’t agree to it much. He did appreciate the quiet days when it was just the two of them and Baby would actually cuddle against him and they floated in the water together.
Finally his centaur boyfriend Abby had a very similar problem to Baby; he couldn’t swim in deeper waters. Unlike Baby Abby had a much larger equine body that was harder to manoeuvre in the water and even harder for Jinu to help with. Though Abby was taller than the others and could come further into the water while keeping his hooves on the ground which meant they had plenty of the shallower areas of the lake to spend time together. Lately though there had been a couple of times Abby’s hooves had started to get stuck in the mud making it difficult for the pink haired man to get in and out of the water.
All in all Jinu loved his four boyfriends but he couldn’t help but feel maybe they weren’t going to be able to work. Maybe the four of them all living on land could bridge the gap of their species but Jinu just wasn’t able to do what they could.
The dark haired boy couldn’t help but let out a sigh as he watched Baby flying after Abby, the bigger of two having teased the younger all morning. Romance immediately noticed his boyfriend's sigh, trying to figure out why he looked so glum all of a sudden.
“What’s wrong Jinu?” He asked, tilting his head slightly, his brown eyes locked on his lover from the rock he sat on near the edge of the lake.
“Nothing.” Jinu lied, feigning a smile that he knew Romance wouldn’t believe.
“Don’t lie to me sweetheart.” Romance shot back with a pout.
Jinu let out another sigh, his eyebrows knitting as he figured out how to word his thoughts without making it sound too bad.
“I just wish I could do more with you guys.” He explained, casting another wistful look at the two boys still squabbling with one another.
Romance looked between the two and Jinu, realising how much Jinu missed out on being confined to the water, his face also falling into a frown.
“Do you really think we can…” Jinu trailed off, not wanting to finish his sentence out loud.
As soon as Romance heard that his mind went into overdrive for a way to fix this feeling. No way he was going to let his boyfriend feel so sad, so distant from the rest of them, especially as he remembered it was Jinu’s birthday tomorrow.
So as soon as he and the other three boys were out of earshot, he told them all that they were going back to his house to search for a solution. They all went over to his house to read through old tomes, brush up on their knowledge of Jinu’s species and find something they could do to make sure he didn’t feel so alone.
Finally at around 3am while the other three boys had passed out in various spots around the house, Romance found just the thing they could use to make it up to their boyfriend on his birthday!
The last thing Jinu expected to wake up to on his birthday was someone hand on his shoulder gently shaking him awake. His bed sat in the deepest darkest part of the lake, safe and quiet from anything on the surface, so he never expected to encounter anything that wasn’t a fish. His eyes flicked open and he blinked a few times not quite believing what he was seeing; all four of his boyfriends around him.
Romance was the one gently holding his shoulder, a tired smile on his face as Jinu looked like he was staring at some kind of ghost.
“How? What?” Jinu stammered, grabbing Romance’s arm and looking at his three boyfriends in shock.
“I was looking through my spell book last night and found a spell for us to breathe underwater for 24 hours.” Romance told him, with a small giggle.
Jinu looked round at his boyfriends with a mixture of joy and shock; Baby rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, Mystery had his arms thrown round the harpy’s shoulders, smiling at Jinu with his sharp teeth and Abby stood on the floor of the lake, giving his usual grin he always wore around his boys.
“Thank you so much!” Jinu exclaimed, throwing himself onto his elf boyfriend and hugging him tightly.
“Awwh hell yeah group hug!” Abby cheered, grabbing Mystery and Baby with one arm and Jinu and Romance in the other, pulling them all into a big group hug. Mystery let out a laugh, as Baby squeaked in surprise, Abby nuzzling his face against Jinu’s hair and Jinu almost crying with joy despite being underwater.
“Happy Birthday Jinu.” Romance said, giving Jinu’s cheek a kiss. “No matter what, we love you and we’ll all make it work.”
