Franklin D. Roosevelt was the last polygloth U.S. president. He spoke both German and French fluently. . . . posted on Instagram - https://ift.tt/30NvxKN
So i’ve read someones webcomic and its really obvious that English is not their first language. I want to give feedback but not sure how to politely say that its hard to read because their grasp of the English language is weak.
Non english speakers what do you suggest.
There you go other whining
Ugh I wish I was able to speak more than two languages. I only know Italian and English (broken one of course) basically. When I express myself in Italian I try to express myself in the most peculiar and descriptive way I could, because first of all I know plenty of heavy adjectives to use and second of all I'm not afraid of using them. When I express myself in English I suddenly become a madman that has these crazy thoughts which wants to express in the most strange and yet ironic way he could. So basically if the equation goes on like this, we could say you change your way to express with language. Sooooooo I wonder if I knew Russian, what would I say. Would I express my art with a lot of animal related stuff? How about Portuguese. I bet I would talk about women a lot. Don't get me started with Japanese, I know that I'll be speaking about heavy rain, rooftops and how much I fucking love my friends. I thought I was going to whine but I actually said something, hey I managed to express myself in a sort of creative way even this time. MISSION SUCCED.
Heyyy, can you please help me explain how ib works? I have my a level but the result isn't what I expected so I'm thinking of taking ib. Can I do ib as private candidate? How many papers per subject? Thanks a lot :)
Hello lovely:) First off, I’m sorry that your a level results didn’t turn out as you expected, but good on you for seeking out other options now! Do check out the IB website, but basically: you choose 6 subjects, of which 3 are higher level and 3 are standard level. Subject choice are confined and may be more so depending on where you want to study/ your school. For example, I have to take maths standard (there’s math studies, which is below the usual higher or standard level) and I have to take a higher level science. Standard level and higher level differ in terms of course material and AMOUNT, as well as exams you will have to take in the end. Candidates are strongly advised to take only 6 subjects, but may take more if their schools allow it. There is a 7th subject namely ‘TOK/ Theory Of Knowledge’, which in my eyes (everyone is unsure of what it is exactly) is a more philosophical approach to understand as to how we gain knowledge in different areas and by what means. Along with this, you will have to write an extended essay, which is a formal research project with a max. word count of 4000 words tied to any subject (even one that you do not take, although this is again not advised). Lastly, there is CAS which stands for ‘Creativity, Action and Service’. As part of your IB diploma you will have to continuously take part in activities that file under these headings as such to create a balance of all components and achieve certain learning outcomes (it used to be 150 hours, but at least for my school it is now 3-4 hours) and complete reflections accordingly. As for papers, for my English lang and lit course for example we get graded on written tasks, of which one is an essay and one is a creative text in regards to what we have studied (we write several during the two years and two get sent off), an individual oral commentary, a further oral activity and 2 papers. So it is quite a lot to be taken seriously. You can score 45 points in the IB, 7 points per main subject, (6*7=42) and the remaining 3 points are made up from your TOK (where you write an essay and have a presentation) and your extended essay. You just have to pass CAS. I am fairly sure that you do have to visit a school in order to take IB, because there are special functions like the CAS coordinator who aid you through the IB. However, there are some self taught courses, as well as online courses, which are allowed depending on your school. I hope this was helpful! xx
