Preemptively cutting my nails, these next 2 weeks are going to be brutal, but in an amazing and affirming way :) running a Kill Bill marathon and am neck deep in patterns, experiments, deadlines, and adventures... I'm loving life right now. It's had some real nasty curves for me, but balanced them by randomly providing opportunities to check off a bunch of my life's to do list while placing me right smack in the middle of some wonderful artist communities. I've had to both learn personal humility, some things are outside of my control, and creating/ recognizing auspicious moments and seizing them. It's been hard without my kitties :( I'm missing them terribly. Sigh... On a lighter note, a random story: The other day while sitting at my desk, sewing tiny silky pieces of lingerie together, I heard this strange buzzing... I looked up... Nothing... Went back to work, fingers deftly maneuvering layers of fabric between metal teeth and the smooth arch of the presser foot. Then I heard it again... Looked up- Again, nothing. Odd. This happened a few more times, and I'd begun tuning it out as I got lost in the seams. Then I heard a sort of careening buzzing followed by a soft "thwack" on my desk. I leaned over and peered behind my sewing machine to see an exhausted bee unable to fly anymore. He still had his stinger, and seemed ok, just tired from buzzing around the room. I remember Peter and Juweles' blog, Pollen Arts, and she had been feeding the bees honey when they were tired... I caught him in a jar, and brought him outside where we put a nice blob of honey in a dish to see if that would help. Stubborn, and unable to communicate with us because he's an insect, of course in the process he landed on his back and in the honey. Doh! We got him flipped over, he loved the honey :) they lap it up with long skinny tongues and do a little butt bopping dance :p apparently straight honey gets them a little drunk too, so he seemed to be having an alright time ;) hunger sated and trying to clean himself, his little wings beat furiously as he pulled the sticky stuff off with his back legs. Worried he'd wear himself out, and might not succeed on his own... I dipped a super fine paint brush in water and the bee and I worked out a system were he would buzz as I would oh so delicately brush his wing. Well, it seemed like we worked together, either that or I have such awesome timing I can sync up with bees! I moved him into the sun when we finished, gave him a final smear of honey to pep him up... After some more preening and sunbathing he flew up, up, and away... The end :) True story :p Goodnight lovelies, sweet dreams <3
