i've been keeping an eye on the mosthomoeroticenemies tournament. Submissions are now closed, there are 256 ships on the contestants list (it's 2 parts, their current pinned post). Quotes are from the poll maker (PM).

Some BTVS updates:

Fuffy (Faith x Buffy) was the first pair to reach 10 submissions! (and #2 on list of contestants)

Gethan (Giles x Ethan) is #20 on list of contestants

Spangel (Spike x Angel) is #108

Spuffy (Spike x Buffy) is #109

Anon: Why is Spuffy homoerotic? PM: "The submission for them called Spike a hesbian."

PM: "The bracket will be mostly randomized, however I will be grouping together pairs from the same fandoms during the first couple rounds so one large fandom doesn't sweep a bunch of small ones"

Six seems general but in the tags the PM says "so everyone who doesn't like spuffy can just vote the other one." So I assume this means all the BTVS ships will be in the same "region" to use March Madness basketball terms. (So they will probably be matched against each other very early on.)

Anon: Spike/Buffy is about as "homoerotic" as Reylo. In fact, Spike/Buffy actually just is Reylo without the outer space. PM: "Well, it'll be against other Buffy ships in the bracket so it probably won't get far then"

Anon: I’m sorry people are throwing such a fit about Spuffy, but they truly do have bi4bi enemies to lovers energy, so I respect someone submitting them, we can transcend typical gender guys we have the power <3. PM: "... it IS possible for m/f queer couples to meet the homoerotic vibes quite well"

similar to my other post, i've been keeping an eye on the bestshipsmackdown tournament. Submissions are now closed, there are 64 spots in the tourney with 56 ships established. All ships with at least 3 submissions automatically get seeded, they are the 56. An additional 137 ships (!!) are in the processing of vying for the remaining 8 spots, the play-in games to use March Madness basketball terms.

Some BTVS updates:

Fuffy (Faith x Buffy) are the only BTVS ship in the play-in games, aka pre-qualifying rounds. They are in Group Four and have made it to the final. (Like a 2 game play-in stage, they won their first game.)

If you're curious you can see all 137 ships that are in the play-in games.

Fuffy won their first play-in game, defeating 3 other ships. (By my math they only won by 2 votes so thanks to everyone who voted!)

Fuffy will still need to win one more poll to be seeded in the bracket, that poll has not started yet. But their 3 opponents have been announced, for the Group Four Finale: Wendy Pleakley x Jumba Jookiba (from Lilo & Stitch) AND Kaz Brekker x Inej Ghafa (from Six of Crows) AND Ruby x Sapphire (from Steven Universe)

Spuffy (Spike x Buffy) got 3 submissions and do not need to play-in.

are they crashing your dinner party? has their car broken down and they need help? are they warning you about the zombie apocalypse? are they (unfortunately for you) volunteers with a political campaign? are they trying to steal back their bike from thieves but they have (unfortunately for them) the wrong address?

(previously - Buffy's the only BTVS character in this tournament. She beat Kathryn Janeway of Star Trek in the Round of 16.)

For the Round of 8 Buffy is up against Sophie Deveraux of Leverage.

With about 2 days left, Buffy has the lead at 58%.

WORST QUEER BAIT BRACKETS - Fuffy lost

Fuffy (Faith x Buffy) lost to Beca (from Pitch Perfect). It was basically 70% to 30%. This means no more BTVS polls for that bracket. After watching the queerbait vs queercoding video, I agree with the results. (Bechloe also won their poll in the same tournament.)

F/F SHIP SHOWDOWN - Tillow and Fuffy both win!

Tillow beat Rupphire (roughly 54% to 46%) and Fuffy easily beat Jemily (70% to 30%), both in Round 1. Round 2 has started, I'll make a separate post later for that.

MOST HOMO EROTIC ENEMIES BRACKETS - Round 1 results

GETHAN WINS! Gethan (Giles x Ethan) has defeated Spuffy (Spike x Buffy). This ended up being pretty close, roughly 53% to 47%.

FUFFY WINS! Fuffy (Faith x Buffy) has defeated Spangel (Spike x Angel). This was NOT close. 81% to 19%.

The Round 2 matchups aren't all up yet, including the dreaded Gethan x Fuffy. I'll post and reblog when they are.
