in the woods, alien sights,

curiosity,

imagination in gear

mingled with bone chilling fear.

I stared outward between plaits of rain

listening for colors in her sounds

swirling caramel, forest green

bathed in vintage tapestries

has my mind rehearsed these scenes

before, are these flickering moments

mere highlights of filigreed memories

I have stored within organ pipes

of my ancient soul

played out again in verse

beyond the threshold of unknowns

I feel the pelting pleasure

of wet stinging my fingers

and I know this soul is someone else

birthed inside of me

I've felt her flutterings before on nights

when the barred owl's call carries

through my woods

filling this savage heart

with an epiphany beyond language

beyond the knowing of my eyes or feet

a mind migration summoning my spirit

over mountain crags where seagulls

plummet into Irish seas

the airways, shadows people,

climbs a higher peak

as we try to snare its feet

to slay the giant itself.

shorn by breezes east or west,

symbol of decay,

poor memoir of yesterday,

a ghost still standing so high.

where young boy's dreams long to roam

with pirates of yore.
