How not to whitewash POC!
I use Photoshop CS6, but this is fairly easy and can be done on any program.
(You can find the free CS6 version in the Helpful Resources section here).
Pick your image and open it up in your program!
Once you have it opened, add your PSD as you normally would.
(PSD I used for this is my own and can be found here).
Most PSD’s fade skin tones for POC and we want to avoid doing so.
Add a new Vibrance Layer and set it to +100.
(Photoshop Newbies: Click the Layer tab, and hover over the New Adjustment Layer, then click on the 'Vibrance..’ option. A little window will pop up, make sure Color: None, Mode: Normal, and Opacity: 100%. Then drag the little arrow all the way to the right to +100).
If that did not give you enough color back, add a Hue/Saturation layer! For this, it’ll completely depend on your PSD and picture, so play around with the saturation. I choose +20 for mine!
(Photoshop Newbies: Do same as above, but this time click ‘Hue/Saturation...’ instead of 'Vibrance...’)
Once you’re satisfied with the way your picture looks, you are finished so go ahead an save it!
(Photoshop Newbies: Go to File, Save As and save your picture. Make sure you change the format to JPEG or whatever else you save your pictures as!)
