I hope some day ubi will come out with an art/concept book for far cry 5. There has to be some kickass concept art for the game and I want to see it so bad.
So I really loved @skyrina 's post on what Rook and Joseph's relationship would be like because it suckerpunched me right in the feels, and while I've been lying here in a daze from cold medicine I got to thinking about why they might end up separated in New Dawn.
--------------------------------------------------------------
When they first step out of the bunker after their 7 year hiatus I imagine they're both pretty devastated by what they see. Joseph probably ends up in some kind of existential crisis spiral because what was even the point, Voice?! He did everything you asked. This post-nuclear apocalypse landscape is not exactly the garden of Eden he had imagined. All of the survivors don't seem particularly pleased to see him, and they definitely have not changed their sinful ways. (Joseph @ the voice: "I'm not having the fun you promised me!") He's much less pleasant to live with once he and Rook leave their little bunker love bubble.
The reality of post-bunker life hits Rook even harder. After all, over these past 7 years, the question and posibilities of "what if I had just walked away?" kept playing out in their head. Was there a way they could've saved everyone? Why couldn't any of the Seed family have just backed down?? Rook didn't want to kill them, it was kill or be killed! And killing them wasn't really the "opening of the seals" which kicked off the apocalypse. It wasn't.
....Was it? After 7 years of listening to Joseph and his almost hypnotizing spiels on how they are the chosen ones, sometimes Rook catches themself wondering if Joseph was right about everything. What if there was a chance this entire thing was Rook's doing? The logical part of them says of course not, it was just a coincidence. Our world had been tiptoeing towards this exact kind of bullshit self-annihilation for a long time, we were just too willfully ignorant to notice it. But after all this time together in the bunker there's a significant, perhaps self-hating, part of them that secretly thinks Joseph is right about everything. Then the day comes when they leave the bunker and once again Rook's entire reality is turned upside down.
