Can we talk about AU Male Dani being childhood friends with Anton cuz his dad was Antons dads right hand. And when Antons dad was betrayed and killed it was actually his right hand. Dani was of course taken away leaving Anton confused. A few years later Dani had joined the army in hopes of seeing Anton again (obviously, Dani is older in this)
However during his employment his higher up was speaking badly of Anton and Dani who had no idea of Antons evil ways punch the man hard. This if course got him a dishonorable discharge and the story was spun as he attacked a sergeant for no reason.
During the beginning of the game when Anton showed up Dani was devastated to see what his friend became while Anton was angered by the sight. Having found out Dani father had helped set up the betrayal.
He didn't hesitated to grab his son and leave pretending to not know Dani. However he is secretly overjoyed to find out Dani is alive later in game
His need to find Dani turns into a obsession. He starts obsessing over how close they used to be. Doesn't help his son got attached and keeps talking about Dani
