i’ve been thinking that maybe itsukushima is a neutral,   pacifist island that has always ensured to remain far from the politics and problems of the continent of fódlan:   this has allowed them to live in peace for a long while but as a consequence,   it has also left them isolated from the rest of the world.   which was all good and nice   !   the islanders developed their own kind of weaponry and magic,   most notably a type of magic that could work through the means of music and everyone was pretty much happy and living their best lives.   until eventually the island was lamentably invaded and raided   (   about this,   i don’t know yet if i want the invaders to be just random invaders who wanted to conquer a rich and flourishing island or if they should be somehow connected to “those who slither in the dark” and their schemes so i shall think about this some more   )   . 

just like in her main verse,   everyone pretty much sacrifices themselves to aid kinnara hone her powers and thus defeat the invaders   !   too bad that she’s now alone,   lost,   with nothing but ruins around her.   so   !!!   it is plausible that the church of seiros immediately took advantage of this situation to summon kinnara to the officers’ academy,   explaining their invite as a way to look out for her after everything that she has gone through and offering her a home now that she has none.   i think that it would make sense   ?   she could be pretty useful thanks to her talents as a healer and having her by their side also means that in the future,   if the island is ever re - built and re - inhabited again,   kinnara will owe everything to the church.
