Hey, I think in one of your posts, you mentioned now that now the "whispers" are out of the equation that returns us the "choice". (maybe I misunderstood) but, then it's possible that in the next game we have way more screens where we have to "choose" what to say or something like that, more similar to OG? I like the two girls, the OG constantly made me choose between the two, now they are such a good friends, I wouldn't like to constantly have to choose between them.
Tbf I update my theories on that the more times I replay lol
Theory crafting is more fluid than analysis because you're working on potential content, not actual content. I did a whole what if the whispers destruction undid the current choices we knew about and basically everyone ends up dead at some point or another lol
The whispers role was to force us exactly along the OG path. Part of that path is party switching and being given options in different locations depending on who we took with us.
I really don't see that happening anymore, not just from a plot pov, but from a budget pov (Aerith's hairstyles cost a lot of money) and the time redoing the same lines with different characters and it makes things less special when you've got the same response for different ones and then there's all the programming and testing and it really sounds more like an otome when you break it down and Remake isn't an otome. Not to mention the devs said they want a fairly quick production and all this extends that time frame.
So yeah, while I think there will be more choices, but also no, not the choices we think we'll get. It'll be more like Cloud and co have more choices and we have minor ones that have no impact on the narrative. It'll make a bigger distinction between the misconception that some people have of being Cloud as opposed to accompanying Cloud.
OG we have a choice who the date is because of the pt system. Actions taken in Midgar and beyond build those up.
Well. If there's no party switching or choices that gain pts, then the person going on the date is Cloud's choice, not ours.
Not that I think we'll get a date since we had the dating mechanism already with the resolutions, but it's an easy example to use.
So, there was a choice, but the player didn't make it. And then when there is optional stuff that we can decide, it'll be irrelevant to the plot. Like choosing to do well in the honeybee Inn. If you didn't bother Aerith looked disappointed and you didn't get the earrings. Andrea still endorsed you though.
