Nick had brought Wren to the porch before he left. Wren looked at him confused and concerned.
“Nick is everything okay?”
The other seemed to be thinking how he capsules what he was going to. “That glitch in there.”
“She has a name, it’s Alina.”
“Point being: Wren be careful please. There could be some master plan going on here. Just be cautious, alright?”
He looked at Wren hopeful and oh so slightly concerned. Wren gave a nod.
“I’ll do that then.”
“Thank you. See you later Wren!”
Nick gave Wren a hug before walking back to the Crusade base. Wren smiled and went back inside.
Alina was sitting on the couch a book in hand. Wren grabbed their own book before sitting beside her and began to read.
Before they knew it they fell asleep not even realizing they were tired. They began to dream.
Wren was in a field, the skies were gray. Something about it made it all comforting. They sat on the ground and looked around from their spot.
Alina then appeared in the field and Wren smiled. She ran to hug them which Wren returned. A slow type of music began and Wren danced with Alina.
At the end of the song Alina kissed them. It felt different. Similar to Sam’s being full of life but then like Bellamy’s caring and gentle. With its own addition of sweetness.
When Wren pulled away that’s when the dream ended. They looked at Alina who was still reading her book. She looked up and gave a smile which Wren returned.

Olf couldn’t help but worry the entire ride to Windhelm. It had been a long time since he’d been to the city, and it was usually with the whole brigade. But it was just he that had been summoned, no one else. Once the city was in sight, he stopped his horse and changed himself out of his travelling clothes and back into his armour. It safe to be seen in it now, so close to the city.
He led Misty into the stable and frowned a little at the horse in the stall beside her as he unsaddled her.
“Dûrion?” his brows furrowed together as he recognised the black stallion. The horse nickered at him and leaned his head over the stall, sniffing at Misty, obviously recognising her from days in camp. “What are you doing here?” Olf asked, “More importantly… why is Rowena here?”
Clearly worried now, he headed away from the stables and walked briskly across the bridge. The guards opened the gates for him and he made his way towards the Palace of the Kings. If Rowena was here then something must have been seriously wrong. If they were calling upon old soldiers to come back… Perhaps the war wasn’t going as well as he presumed it was.
He entered the Palace and saw Rowena and Galmar both stood by the throne, talking with Ulfric. The Jarl chuckled at something Rowena said. Olf walked closer and he started to overhear the conversation.
“So the twins are growing fast?” Ulfric asked.
Rowena nodded, “Aye, sir, next thing I know, I’ll be taking them out hunting and they’ll be big enough to spar with each other.”
He laughed again, “That’ll be a sight. You will have to bring them to the Palace next time you visit Ralof.”
She nodded, “I will.”
They all looked around when they realised that Olf had joined them. Rowena smiled at him, but it only confused the Nord more. He stepped forward and knelt before the throne.
“My Jarl,” he said quietly.
Ulfric gave him a nod and Olf got back onto his feet.
“It has been brought to my attention that the Haafingar camp has been without an Officer for nearly a year now,” Ulfric said, “Now that your former Officer has assured me that she is in full retirement now after her maternity leave, I have decided that it is time for a new Officer to be appointed.”
Olf’s heart leapt up into his throat. Was he suggesting what he thought he was suggesting?
“I’ve put lots of consideration into it, due to the excellent service of all of the men in the Haafingar camp, but under the advice of Rowena, I believe that you are the one that should lead your brothers in arms,” Ulfric said, “You are an exemplar soldier, Olf. You have served the army well, and are one of our fiercest warriors. You are a true Nord, and I would be honoured to count you among my Stormblades.”
Olf just stared at him for a moment or two, unsure what to say. When one of them got promoted, he was certain it was going to be Ric, he had been there the longest. He had never thought for one second that it would be him…
“I… Thank you, my Jarl,” Olf said, realising that he hadn’t spoken in a while, “I am honoured.”
Ulfric looked to Galmar who had Olf’s new armour in his hands. He handed it to Olf and Rowena laughed a little at the expression on Olf’s face when he saw that the normally brown bear pelt that was attached to the armour was in fact a snow bear pelt. He looked around at her, “Is this…?”
She nodded, “Aye, that’s your snow bear pelt. I got Colby to send it to me.”
Galmar hummed a little, “There must be something about that blighted camp. It had the first elf to ever wear the bear armour, and now it has the first Officer with snow bear armour.”
“There is definitely something about that camp,” Rowena smiled.

Olf and his former Officer left the Palace and walked slowly towards the stables together.
“So come on,” she said, “How does it feel? Has it even sunk in yet?”
“That I am suddenly in charge of the runnin’ of the camp?” he looked at her, “It’s dauntin’.”
“Olf, since I left, you’ve practically been running that place anyway,” she pointed out, “Ulfric asked me to Windhelm for my advice on who he should promote, considering that I know you lads the best and. There was no doubt when I chose you.”
“What about Ric?” he asked.
“Ric is a brilliant soldier. But he isn’t a leader. You’re a leader, Olf,” she told him, “I would gladly have followed you.”
“You were a good Officer,” he said, “I’ve got a lot to live up to.”
“You’ll fill my boots easily,” she smiled, “Just keep doing what you’re doing. They respect you, and they all love you like a brother. That camp… it’s a family, it’s a home… You’re just the head of the family now.”
“I guess I like the sound of that,” he looked at her with a smile on his face.
They parted at the stables with a big hug and a promise of visiting each other soon.
“I’ll have to come and inspect that you haven’t burned my camp down, Officer,” she laughed.
