Dad: You're not allowed back into this house unless you're healthy and able again. No excuses.

Mom: if you fuck up at this hospital, i will divorce your father, ruin my happy marriage, and live in a 1 bedroom apartment taking care of you for the rest of your life. You will not rot in a nursing home, i refuse to let that happen. So don't be selfish and ruin my life, just do what they're telling you.

Me: ... I- can i get some stronger pain medicine then?

Doctor: No. Here's Tylenol. Toughen the fuck up. Now let us tear your legs open, draw blood now and at 3am, and you're starting PT tomorrow at 8am, we're gonna fix you.
