i feel like a Demeter retelling would work so much better than most of the characters used in retellings
i don't think retellings succeed or fail based on the matter of which characters they choose. demeter could be an interesting perspective, but so could persephone, and so could anyone—the problem here isn't a scarcity of women to explore. i think they succeed or fail based on the lens they use to view the story and the world and, sometimes, other women
How do you feel about the story of Alcestis and Admetus?
I actually recently read Euripides' Alcestis in Greek and I have to say: it's funny. I get how it was slotted as a satyr play. Admetus is a buffoon. He's constantly lamenting about how he can't live without his wife, begging her not to leave him, saying he'll die along with her, talking about how the grief is worse than death, like dude. We all know she's dying on your behalf. You could just agree to die like you were supposed to and she'd live. And then it feels so comic with tons of stuff happening in the house and the slaves stepping out into the street to describe it to the chorus. Even before Heracles shows up with his genre-bending powers, the only way I can take this play is as a parody of tragedy.
ask game Hecate x Demeter
SHIP IT
I remember reading the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and thinking they're neat :) I just thought the goddess of the harvest and fertility being with the goddess of witchcraft and ghosts was neat 🫶
I like how different they are but they still are friends, I mean, a goddess related to life with a goddess related to death will always be a fun dynamic. I also like the idea of Hecate yearning for Demeter for thousands of years without Demeter really realizing
Mmmhhh, I don't think so?? They ship isn't big enough to have a "popular idea" of that it is lol
can I use some of your art for a video edit? I’d credit you

what’s your opinion on Leucothea?
she was nice for helpin Ody! I think she is supposed to represent the "wind bag" in the musical, as her veil is the reason he goes unnoticed until he arrives to the Phaecians
your art always knocks me out. I can see how much effort you put into it every time. It is absolutely wonderful!!
STOP YOURE SO SWEET ILY 😞🙏
