I remember playing on the rocks, washed up logs, and tree roots on the beach down the hill from our house on Camano. Climbing endlessly, marking my own imaginative story into the nooks and crevices, while my brother and the dogs went digging for muscles. We were the straggler kids who lived up the hill, unwanted by the people who owned the nicer houses on the beach.
